What are some tips for surviving on a skyblock island in Minecraft?

Here's some tips that really help that I wished I knew when I first started playing.Half slabs. Build your island out of half slabs, not blocks.With the slabs, place them on the odd half (the one that allows floating blocks) to stop mob spawns and removes the need of torches.Learn how to make basic farms and grinders, and if your server allows it AFK at them. For example, and early mob system and auto fishing and plant farms are important. Make sure both are able to be afk’d at.If it has economy, find out which items sell for highest price with minimal effort. If say wheat and melons sell for 5$ each, but pumpkins and carrots sell for 7$ each, focus on those farms.Player made shops. If these are allowed, definitely make one when you have a decent balance. Make sure to sell basic items like dirt, cobble, wood etc. But also hard to obtain items like iron, diamonds and spawn eggs (if they're available).Make sure your shop has slightly better prices than the admin made and make sure to look for easy exploits such as melons selling for 9$, but 9 seeds sell for 10$.Don't bother with odd items in your shop like prismarine and sponges. Takes too much space and effort.Get villagers asap if possible and make a breeder as well as an iron golem farm with them. Having infinite iron to sell for better prices than the admin shop will bring lots of customers.Use chat frequently. Make sure your known, but be careful to not ruin your reputation. You want people to be your friend if you need a favor and it also attracts customers to your shop.DO NOT SPAM ADVERTISE YOUR SHOP. There is no set limit to how many portals there are(at least not of we're talking about nether portals) however,if you'Re not careful in their placement,they might not work properly and link up with the wrong ones. To do that Follow these two rules:1)always make sure there is a corresponding portal in the nether for every one you build in the overworld and vice versa. It's only during the first trip to the nether that a portal is automatically made on the other side,so for all other portals you have to build them on both sides.2)1 block in the nether=8 blocks in the over-world.That means that if there are 64 blocks between portals in the over-world,there needs to be 8 blocks between in the nether,

It is possible, it will take a looooong time though.The world is infinite but you are not allowed to walk or mine outside a 60,000,000 * 60,000,000 * 256 box. This goes from x -30,000,000 to x +30,000,000; from z -30,000,000 to z + 30,000,000; and from y 0 to y 256 roughly.The normal level of a minecraft world is 64, of course there are higher mountains, there are oceans to be dried, there are caves that don’t need to be mined, ravines which will save a lot of mining time, but let’s try to estimate how many blocks we need to mine:60,000,000 * 60,000,000 * 64 = 230,400,000,000,000,000Let’s say that half of it are caves and ravines, i’m pretty sure it is less if we consider the high mountains, but let’s assume just 50% of that needs to be mined:230,400,000,000,000,000 * 50% = 115,200,000,000,000,000Let’s assume you can insta mine all blocks, including bedrock which even though it is not impossible to break I don’t know about any method to insta mine it. If you insta mine everything I estimate you can break around 10 blocks per second. If you add more people you can reduce the time, if you add more time you can reduce the people needed.So basically what I’m trying to say is that even though it is “possible” to do it, I don’t think anyone can accomplish this through vanilla methods, using mods or commands is a different story.TL;DRIt is possible to do it, I don’t think anyone can do it.EDIT:If you are able to convince the 26,219,560 people that have bought minecraft for PC at this point each person needs to invest only about 14 years of their lifetime.If everyone that has bought minecraft on any platform united to make this project possible, that is around 122 million as of February 2017, everyone needs to invest only 3 years.
