How do you motivate yourself to exercise?

Give your self rewards. For example, when I first started to go to the gym, I had a really hard time motivating myself to do it. So, I set a goal that if I go to the gym TODAY then I get to have a ghirardelli square for dessert (most of the time I didn't have one...after working out I didn't want to ruin it). Then, when I got into that routine, I made a week long goal...If I go 4 times this week, then I get to get my nails done, that sort of thing. If you really don't enjoy going to the gym, don't try to convince yourself that you do, instead, think of it like eating vegetables: you have to do it, so swallow them and move on.

P.S. I've lost 35 pounds so far!

How do you motivate yourself to exercise ?

I exercise to what does appeal to me yeah (which is at home, on the weights, and going running).. but it's such an energy draining exercise! I do feel good after it, but only for like 20 mins, then feel like poo again. Not being big headed or anything :/ but i've got a good body atm, but struggle soooo much to sustain it and get the lower abs, no matter how much weight I lose or effort I put into my workouts. I get enough rest in the week to regain my strength, but that's where the problem is; I keep getting moments before a workout with a huge lack of energy, and just get overheated and stressed. Is it some sort of deficiency in minerals or vitamins in my body or something; or is it a mental thing ?

What is your idea of a workout?  Aerobic, resistance, how long, at home, at the gym etc. etc.?It will only work if you're able to do your workout as part of your daily routine, since having to go somewhere e.g. to the gym or for running outdoors to a park is only for those very well motivated, but doesn't work for most, although I know a young lady whose office is next to a gym, so she exercises two to three times a week after work, doable for many but not for me personally. So what can or will you do?When I was still working (12 hours days, apart from being on call 1 in 6 and for a very long time also running our intensive care unit) after coming home I would have no motivation at all to do anything physical, I just wanted to be with my family.  So I woke up 45 minutes earlier at 6, exercised at home since I was totally unmotivated to go outdoors in the dark to the gym which in NL wouldn't be open anyway (in the US I read they open quite early), after that shaved, showered, got dressed to went to the hospital to work.On the job I climbed stairs and walked where ever I needed to, it has been shown that low intensity physical exertion over a longer time (4-6 hours in total) metabolically is better than 30 minutes of high intensity physical exertion e.g. on an exercise bike see PLOS ONE: Minimal Intensity Physical Activity (Standing and Walking) of Longer Duration Improves Insulin Action and Plasma Lipids More than Shorter Periods of Moderate to Vigorous Exercise (Cycling) in Sedentary Subjects When Energy Expenditure Is ComparableThere are tons of video's on YouTube, and lots of books showing you what you can do at home, without having to take the threshold to go to a gym for a workout.  Simple push-ups, sit-ups, crunches, skipping, kettle bell exercises, climbing stairs repetitively can all be done in the warmth of your own home before or after work. I never read any books, but did look at quite some video's to see what suited me.Up to the present day I do  20-30 minutes of physical exercise every day, more diverse and with better results since I retired, I climb stairs instead of taking the elevator etc.Hope you will be able to have your exercise as you rightly wish!

How to motivate yourself???-???-???-?

I used to have this problem, and one of the best ways of overcoming it and motivating yourself is to write a list, when you have a clear list of things to do, you will seems more motivated towards them, because you will want to complete them and tick them off :) It helps me a lot, it's also a good reminder.
Anther thing is self confidence, if you're thinking, I'm so unmotivated, I can't sleep, I don't want to do my homework, that's exactly how it will be. You won't sleep, and you won't do your homework, however if you start a bit of optimistic thinking, imagining how you will feel when you get to class on time with finished homework and how much more relaxed you'll feel for it, it may help.
Also lack of direction could be a cause, if you don't have something to work towards, make one, like a goal :) Like finish 10 pieces of homework or get to school on time for a week on the run :)
Once you feel a bit better from this do some exercise, it helps to stimulate the brain and release endorphines which will make you feel happier and give you a sense of self accomplishment :) This will boost your self confidence :)
