How Does Someone To Stop Useing Meth Begin Recovery For Meth User S How Donthey First Start

My girlfriend is starting to use Meth.?

So my girlfriend has always been an occasional drug user... Now she has been using Meth more and more frequently. Started off at once every 2 months, then once every 2 weeks, then once a week, and now this week she used it every day... In high amounts. She refuses to acknowledge she has a problem even though many people tell her so. She says the typical addict bullshit such as "I can quit any-time", "I'm young and I just want to experiment", "It's not a problem, I'm sick of everyone telling me what to do, let me live my life", "I know it can **** you up, but I'm stronger then that". I've tried to have talks with her about my wishes for her to stop and she's just so stubborn that she won't listen to me, she won't even acknowledge that it is becoming an issue. Sometimes it seems like she almost sees the light, but she just goes right back to it. I don't want to break up with her, I've been with her through a long time and she has remained with me through some rough patches that I have gone through, but I can't stay in a relationship with a meth user (as I am a recovering addict myself) who will ditch me to go get high. Examples of this are her asking me to go pick it up for her the one day a week I get to see her, rather than her taking a break to come hang out with me. I need help, I'm so beta I don't know how to set boundaries.. It seems like if I were to tell her "it's me or meth" then she would just pick meth without even thinking twice... I just wish she would understand. I need condolence and advice, not some bullshit trolling. Please help.

If someone has only been doing meth for about a month, are they addicted to it yet?

Hell yes. I knew someone who got addicted of only a month of meth use - bearing in mind it was at a time he was literally using constantly. He woke up, meth. Ate breakfast, meth. Ate meth, meth. Slept. Woke up again, meth. You get the picture. It was a sorry state to see him in, financially it ruined him and his parents didn’t let him back in their house until he was clean. He stays away from the stuff now. After a solid month of doing meth he finally bankrupted himself and exhausted all other methods of getting it and was addicted. He went cold-turkey, everyone helped him out of course. It was a tough road for him because he couldn’t sleep for days, felt hot and sweaty, was really irritable to the point of telling everyone how much he hated them whilst they were helping him.Back to his normal self, he said that was a grim part of his life - not a life he recommends. With the highly addictive substances it’s mostly a mental dependence at first. You take the first hits and the high overcomes your body and mind and as it wears off you endure the comedown - that’s when people usually take more, you keep smoking until it’s all gone. After that you’ll get the physical drawbacks which hit you even harder. When I was younger and naive I would have considered trying it but the stories from previous users deterred me from it. I’ve heard you can be hooked from first try and you have to isolate yourself from your dealers to stop yourself from buying more on a whim.

How long does it take you recover mentally from meth addiction?

I gave I gave up meth, cocaine, heroin, marijuana and alcohol in the year 1989. When I went into a Indigent detox facility I had to go cold turkey and kick. The psychological was roller coaster for about 90 days. The physical was very difficult to get through and overcome. It took about 30 to 45 days as well. The worst part was the first 7 to 10 days both physically and psychologically.I'm a strong believer in to each their own. This applies to a person's recovery as well. Recovery is not just physical it is majorly mental. So a person's willingness and complete commitment along with their complete acceptance of their addiction and need to have a change is imperative. Everybody has their own individual bottom. It appears that females suffer harder than males when it comes to addiction both physically and mentally. I'm not picking on you ladies nor am I candy coating it for you.

How do you get someone off Crystal Meth?

Because traditional treatment models are not effective for meth addiction, meth-specific treatment programs have been developed.

Successful meth treatment requires the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy. The cognitive-behavioral therapy approach, which focuses on how the way we think affects our feelings and actions, helps patients identify and plan for the triggers associated with the substance abuse. This approach prepares the addict for life-long recovery.

A critical consideration in meth treatment is something known as the “wall.” Around 45 to 120 days into treatment, recovering addicts experience physiological changes that often lead to a return to meth use. This period of increased depression and need for the drug is the single significant factor today to the false perception that meth addiction is “untreatable.”

Although recovering from meth addiction is challenging, it is not impossible. For meth treatment to be successful, it simply must meet the demands of meth addiction. Research shows that recovering meth addicts require a longer and more intense outpatient program than is the case for many other drugs. These outpatient services should be very structured and include frequent contact between the treatment provider and the recovering addict.

How Long will my body take to recover from meth?

It took me about 6-8 months the first time I quit after 4 years of using in order to feel "normal" again. The most recent time that I quit (after using for 1 year and after 1.5 years of being clean before that) it seemed to take alot less time (more like 1-2 months) because alot of the the readjustment is psycholgical in my opinion. There is definitely the physical but the psychological can be just as bad to even worse. The reason the second time was so much easier was because I already knew what it was like to get totally sober and to completely readjust. The first time it seemed like I may never feel like the way that I did before and that makes it even harder to feel normal again because you think that now it can't be the same for you now that you've experienced the high life and nothing else will do. The fact is that you WILL feel normal and it will come, it's just a matter of your mind readjusting and that's not an easy thing for it to do.
If your mind is strong enough to survive on crystal meth then it's definitely stong enough to find it's way back and when you get there, it will all seem really simple to you and not the nightmare of a mess that it once was. If it's your first time quitting for an extended period I would expect a really hard time getting over it mentally and the mental part can seem really physical to a person in fact. It can seem really defeating to try to live a "normal" life after that type of extreme living with the memories of those incredible "highs" living in your mind. It'll get much easier. A month is definitely not enough time to fully recover. In another month you'll probably be back on a normal schedule and in the next couple of months after that you'll be feeling much like your old self agian. It does take time though but keep at it and it will come, no doubt about it, no matter how it seems now. After you get yourself back in action and where you should be in your mind it'll be as easy as it once was for you back in the day. It's just a matter of getting out of the woods. Life can be much better without meth too. I'm not just trying to blow sunshine up your skit either.

Can you have meth withdrawals after the first use?

I used meth for the first time the day before yesterday. It was awesome but when it started wearing off, I couldn't sleep. I was sweating and tossing and turning. Today, I was at work and couldn't handle it. I was flushed, overheated and basically felt like I was tweaking out while being super depressed. Do you think it's from the meth? After all, I only did a couple of lines of it.

Oh and I don't want to hear people whine about how it's a bad decision and blah blah. It was my decision & I'm coping with the punishments. I'm not here to hear your opinions on meth. I want to know the awnser.

Connection between Meth use and Hypothyroidism?

Your meth use may have nothing to do with your thyroid problem.First check your family history, mom dad, grandparents, aunt. Anybody have thyroid problems? It could also be diet, you know past and present.Don't be too hard on yourselve, I imagine you do that whenever you think of the past.

How can I successfully recover from a meth addiction?

First thing you need to realize before anything else is that you will never fully recover. You will spend the rest of your life recovering. An addiction is not something you just get over and wash your hands of and it’s over. It will be something you will have to work at every day of your life. Now with that being said, the first thing you need to do is figure out why you use. For me, I used to numb the pain of some childhood shit I went through. I was molested for years as a child and I began using to deal with the emotional trauma of that. So once I figured out that was the underlying cause of my meth use I was able to address it and begin getting the help I needed. As far as the physical withdrawals from meth when you try to stop, I have found that exercise is a great way to get through it. It stimulates the same feel good receptors in your brain, which in turn releases dopamine just like meth. Stick to it and eventually you will start feeling normal again.
