There's too : "coq au vin" ; " les civets" (=stew); "boeuf carottes"; sorry but there is too much traditionnal recipe... A lot of sauce are made with wine...

Food vendor at a festival?

I want to sell shish kebab's at the local festival. We have so many of festivals here and I toured the majority of the festivals last year and year before also and no one was making or selling shish kebabs. I have experience in making kebabs. Some of these festivals, according to the organization that is putting it together and the media, attracks 100,000 to 200,000 visitors. How can i make a calculation to have enough food to cover the potential of having lot of visitors? Obviously i am not going to get food to cover everyone and not everyone will eat from my stand? appreciate your help!

What time does the Epcot Food & Wine Festival start on 9/26/08? Is it less crowded in future world?

The World Showcase opens at 11A.M. most days. Advise: No matter which park that you go to in Disney World, the best way to avoid the crowds is to get to the park at least 30 minutes before the park opens. Go directly to the ride that you most want to see first. Then directly to the next on your list, and so on until it gets crowded. The most popular rides in Epcot are Soarin', Test Track,Mission Space & Nemo/Living Seas. Save Spaceship Earth (The big ball) for later in the day. You will not have to wait. Use the Fastpass system. Don't avoid the World Showcase, there are many interesting things there. Also. Epcot is so big that it handles crowds well. Hope you have a great time!

What is the messiest food in the world to eat?

I'm mostly into South Indian vegetarian food. Traditionally, Indian food is consumed using hands instead of silverware. However, some foods are messier than others. For example Big piece of sweet juicy Water Melon in the summerMouth watering pieces of hard raw Sugar Cane (Especially after the Hindu harvest festival/new year Makar Sankranti)Here is a video on how to eat it: Mango pits in Mango Rasayana / Seekarane / Shikran Eating a mango pit is always messy, and given that it has been used in a dish which enhances its tastes makes it all the more irresistible. In dishes like this which use mango as the main ingredient, the pit of the mango is the tastiest and also the messiest. This livestrong article ( How to Eat a Mango Seed | )explains it well: Hold one short end of a mango seed with your fingers and fingernails, wrapping your teeth and lips around the opposite end. Drag your teeth along this end as you pull the mango seed out of your mouth, scraping away at the residual flesh and fiber.JackFruit bulbs eaten fresh and directly from the fruitFor those who do not know, this is Jackfruit growing in a tree.It is comparable to durian in its exterior texture. But tastes entirely different (like a cross between banana and pineapple, quite sweet) and it is much bigger in size. And it also makes us feel extremely full quite easily. The messy part is in cutting it open and cleaning out the fleshy consumable bits around the seeds from the stringy, gummy bits which stick everywhere ( and I mean everywhere) and keep sticking even after washing it with water. Anytime somebody is going to cut open a Jackfruit they usually cover their hands, face etc with a good coating of oil so that the stringy, gummy parts will be easier to remove with water. Enough to say it is quite an exhausting process. But the tasty parts around the seeds (best consumed fresh) make up for it.

How does food work in the Air Force?

It is called a Mess Hall. The service is that of a cafeteria and it is furnished. It is not free, It is actually part of your pay in a very real sense. But do not worry, you will not have to pay for it unless the government first pays you for your meals. You will not be concerned about that until well after basic training.

The Air Force has always had the reputation of having the best food of any of the services. While you are in Basic, you might think the food is not all that great, but do not worry, Basic does not last long. Actually it is probably a better balanced menu than you are accustomed to.

The Mess Hall is open only for a prescribed time for each meal. While you are in Basic and Technical School, your life and time are so controlled that you need not worry, they will have you there at the appointed time. After that, the pace is much more relaxed and you are on your own. Miss the time and you have missed a meal.

While in basic, You pretty much eat what they serve and you do it quickly. Trust me, you will not be allowed to go hungry. Later, it is more like a self serve cafeteria.

It is well known that a lot of chubby guys going into the services lose a pound or more a week in Basic Training due to the diet and exercise. While it is less known, the same diet and exercise causes skinny guys to put on weight at the same rate.

Food is absolutely THE MOST IMPORTANT culture of China. Not like US and most newly established country, China has thousands of years in history. During the long history, due to limited money and resources, lack of food had been the biggest challenge among most Chinese families. As an atheist, how does the celebration of Christmas in the U.S. make you feel?

Our family always has a lot of fun. It makes me feel very good.We start with an early buffet dinner on Christmas Eve for our family and friends. Neither our children nor many of their friends live in town anymore so many out-of-town people show up at the dinner. We renew friendships and make new acquaintances that re-invigorate and deepen the relationships that we cherish. After dinner our family and some of our friends go to church for the 7:30 pm service where one of more of us sings in the choir. Sometimes the preacher actually delivers an inspiring sermon about the meaning of Christmas. On Christmas morning we adults all savor the delight and awe that our littlest grandchildren show when they get to open presents and share in family joy. The older children act cool about the whole thing, but they always ask for their parents’ assurance that they will be able to come again the next year.My wife makes special pastries for Christmas breakfast, and in the early afternoon we have a Christmas dinner with a menu that, by tradition, is almost inviolable. We usually hold hands and recite an old family grace before the meal. Even our youngest grandchildren enjoy holding hands and reciting those syllables they remember in rhythm. On occasion, we sing the grace from placemats on which several hymns are printed. Sometimes we both recite and sing the grace. Sometimes we also sing children’s song during the meal. Sometimes we repeat the recitations or the singing by popular demand of the grandkids. The rest of the day is usually spent in amiable interaction that reflect the human love that the Christmas myth inspires. If we’re lucky, our extremely busy children can stay with us a few days so that the cousins, their parents and we can celebrate the wondrous joys of life and family. It’s truly a special and inspiring time of year. We are blessed to be able to celebrate it.

What is unusual or different about the food and cuisine in New Zealand?

I think the food in New Zealand has one thing that is special. The quality is outstanding. The basic ingredients, the meat and especially the seafood and dairy are second to none. A chefs paradise. There is a plum in New Zealand called a greengage plum, I have never seen it anywhere else. Amazing taste, even when canned. Some of their produce is a little primitive, i.e. it is still under development. Their wine for example was never anything special 20 years ago, but now some of the best wines come from NZ especially their Pinot’sGo there, it is a really special place … and no I am not a kiwi.

Food tasting for wedding?

I work at a banquet facility and as far as I know we have always charged for food tastings. We've been in business for over 20 years and have been featured on theknot. So it's not uncommon nor a 'con' for a venue to charge for a tasting. Though we only charge $35 per person and if you have already booked with us (before the date of the tasting) the tasting is THEN free (only 2 dinners are compensated though) but if you were not you have to pay. If you went into a restaurant that you had never been before would you not pay because you only wanted to taste what their food was like? no so why would a banquet facility be any different? First and foremost we are a business.

Anyway, that is not how we have our food tastings. You come in to a private table for your party. You look over the menu, the appetizers we will be serving to everyone is listed and you get a choice of 8 entree's. You only get one but what many people like to do is say you have 4 people in your party (bride, groom and one of your guys' parents) they order 4 different entrees and share with everyone so you get a taste. While we serve appetizers and dinner (in a similar fashion that we would at your wedding serve, clear, go with next course) our wedding coordinator would go around seeing how everyone was enjoying themselves talking to people how they want their wedding set up answering questions etc. Feel free to ask servers questions as well, they may not know everything (such as price listing) but there are some things that they may be able to answer (such as linen colors) so that you don't have to flag down the coordinator.
We serve cake from a bakery that we often reccomend to our clients, a DJ (another vendor we often reccomend) is usually there as well. It's a quiet calm environment designed to give you a taste of our food and ask questions that you may have.
That's how ours works but I'm sure everyone does it a little differently. We have our dinner samplings (that's what we officially call the event) on the first monday of every month.

ETA: that first part isn't really directed towards you it's more towards the people that seem to think that they should get food/service for free. I don't really understand the logic, you have to pay for any other service you use, why should a dinner sampling be any different?
