How Far Do Scorpions Travel From Their Molt Within A Day

Is my scorpion dead or is it shedding?

Is he active at all at night? In the wild, scorpions eat a variety of invertebrates (insects, other arthropods) and vertebrates including small lizards. In captivity, they seem to do fine with a diet primarily of crickets, supplemented with other insects such as mealworms and moths. An adult emperor will only need 3 -6 adult crickets per week (feed every other day or so). The crickets should be fed a nutritious diet so that the nutritional value is passed on the the scorpions, and the crickets can be dusted with a quality reptile vitamin/mineral supplement every few feedings. Feed at night to replicate the conditions under which scorpions would naturally feed. he habitat should be maintained at a high humidity level by regular (daily) misting. The substrate should be kept damp, but not wet. If there is mold on the substrate or condensation on the walls of the tank, the humidity is too high.

A temperature gradient should be provided, from about 70-90 F. Many recommend occasionally allowing temperatures of about 100 F. The temperature gradient is important to allow the scorpions to regulate their body temperature as needed. The easiest way to provide the gradient is by using a heating mat designed for use under reptile tanks. This should be placed under no more than about 1/3 of the tank, so the scorpion can move from warmer to cooler temperatures if desired. Always verify that appropriate temperatures are being provided by using accurate thermometers in a few location within the cage. Being nocturnal, scorpions do not have a requirement for UV lighting, and prefer a light-dark cycle with a slightly longer dark period. I would advise taking him to a vet right away..

How far do Scorpions travel from their molt within a day?

I went to the bathroom tonight and I found what I believe was the exoskeleton of a Scorpion? I crushed it and flushed it down the toilet and then afterwards did research on it. So I'm not entirely sure if it was a molt or not but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Both my bedroom and my little sister's bedroom's are next to the bathroom and both have convenient hiding places. It was a tan skeleton so I know it's not deadly but that doesn't mean I'd like to be stung.

It was probably a little over an inch head to the curl of it's tail which makes me wonder about how old it was? Any information would be great, seeing as I've no idea if it could have had eggs or anything.

Is my Desert Scorpion Molting?

I just bought a Desert Hairy Scorpion from the pet shop, it was in a tiny little container, I want to say its about 3-4 inches long.

I've had him for about a week, he was pretty active when I put him in his tank.

The pet shop said that a acrylic tank would do until it got bigger, so I bought a decent size one for like 10 bucks. My room gets pretty warm seeing how I have a lot of electrical equipment on all the time, and they said that 70+ temp is good. Seeing how he was in a small plastic container behind a glass door I figured it be fine too.

I filled it with sand from the shop as well, hes got a small water dish and a big rock to hide under.

I fed him once when I got him and put a cricket in there the other day and now the cricket is gone, so I am assuming he ate that too.

Now all he does is hide under the rock, I havent seen him come out in a day or 2, is that normal? even at night I dont see him come out, and my baby emperor scorpion seems to come out more often at night then the desert scorpion.

Anyways let me know, thanks.

I am not sure when the last time he molted, but I can always go back to the pet store to ask, I hope hes not dying seeing how I have only had him for a week :-/

Question on emperor scorpions molting?

If "he" stops accepting food, that generally means it's in pre-molt.. You can tell by looking at the plates on his back, if they're stretching apart and you can see new ones formed under them, that's also a good sign.

90 Fahrenheit is too high in my opinion.. I'd keep it around 80 at all times, even during molts.. Also, when misting don't spray directly onto the scorpion, however some will actually wander into the way of the mist because they enjoy it, most will get stressed by this... Keep the Humidity up at about 70-80% and he'll have a higher chance of molting AND it will help trigger the molt easily... If you don't have a humidity gauge in the tank, go buy one from your local pet shop, once it starts dropping below 40% is when I generally mist my emps... If he doesn't make it after you take this into account, he wouldn't make it normally, it sucks, but it happens sometimes \:

How can I get rid of baby scorpions in my house?

When baby scorpions are born they get on their mother's back and stay there until they molt . After that they go on their own and look for food.
They can not get in the sun, so they stay under rocks, leaves and whatever they can get under.
Getting rid of what you can around the house will take away their hiding places. Some glue traps made for spiders and scorpions will catch some.

Astrology: Can a scorpio female ever get over her ex?

Okay I don't want to be one of those people who wanders into the astrology topic and immediately declares that it's hogwash but...Have you ever met a married Scorpio? Did that person ever date anyone before getting married? Have you ever met a divorced and remarried Scorpio?!Even if you haven't, I guarantee they exist and they've gotten over their exes. Don't let your star sign hold you back from moving on with your life.

How can you tell if an Emperor scorpion is dead?

your scorpion is most likely dead. if it were molting you would see that it is vary fat and hides continually. if its pincers are tucked in and closed, and the tail laying flat on the ground, and does not respond to prodding it is dead.

Did the crickets eat my scorpion?

I had a baby scorpion, maybe not any bigger than an inch and a half. Every time we 'fed' it, my parents would just go to petco, buy 20 BABY crickets and just dump them all in the tank, fill up its water supply, and leave as is.

It might've been roughly... two or three months since I last seen it, but every time I did see it, it would be under a rock within the tank, so we always assumed he was hiding under there. Today, we decided to check up on it after buying 20 MORE crickets and dumping it in there. We didnt find it under it's favorite rock so we got concerned. We removed ALL the rocks and interior (none of them have holes so it couldnt have crawled in any of them) and grazed through the sand with a plastic spoon and turns out, my dear old scorpion... has vanished. Not even a ******* carcass left. Nothing.

Where the hell could it have possibly went? Is it possible that BABY crickets (each about the size of a grain of rice) ate it alive? Including the carcass/shell? I mean, we DID dump 20 rice sized crickets in there for its meal, but we actually joked one day and said, lol heh, how the hell are these crickets even living this long without food? (referring to crickets we dumped in there about a month ago).

The scorpion is definitely gone... as for its whereabouts, idk. It couldn't have crawled out, my cat couldn't have possibly ate it, so What. The. Hell. ?

Why are Scorpios loners?

I think that *some* scorpios are loners due to their intense feelings and crystal clear vision. Here's how it plays out: When a Scorpio meets someone for the first time, their intuition picks up an incredible amount of information about the person, so much so that it can be overwhelming and emotionally taxing. Then, because they are human, they will have an emotional reaction to this information. So, for example, say they meet a person who has killed other people (in war, as a soldier), the Scorpio will intuit the violence and its emotional aftermath on that person, feel these things deeply, and react with, most likely, fear and revulsion. However, since they are smart, they know they cannot express their revulsion openly, especially if they are in a social situation where they have to interact with this person. Their only recourse, then, is to withdraw. Multiply this scenario by 1,000, and you end up with one tired, frazzled scorpio, who just wants to hide away and watch humanity from a safe distance. They also are aware, once adults, that other people will be perplexed by their intution and not believe them, question them, or even label them as crazy. So, they become close-mouthed over time, as they realize that others do not "see" as clearly as they do. For some scorpios, the gift of intuition is a double-edged sword which they would gladly give up, if they could. I hope that helped! (I am a scorpio sun (western zodiac), scorpio in mercury (Vedic zodiac) and am very familiar with a person with moon in scorpio placement (in both western and eastern zodiacs)).
