How Fast Can A Yz85 Go

How fast does a 80cc dirtbike go?

Why does it matter? That bike is not built for speed.

How fast can a Yamaha YZ85 go?

Depends on the gearing. Just a guess would be around 55 - 60 mph with stock gearing. You have to understand that MX tracks are generally designed such that you won't be able to exceed 50 or so. That is why MX bikes aren't geared to run 100 mph. Top speed is not a good indicator of a bikes performance potential.

How fast does a Yamaha YZ85 2 stroke go?

I'd guess around 65 or so, buddies old modded Blaster ran 60 and my 85 ran quite a bit faster, never did clock mine though. To my knowledge it had stock sprockets. You shouldn't have a problem with it hauling you @ 155, but you wouldn't want to be much heavier unless you don't mind slipping the clutch all the time. (assuming you'll be trail riding and messing around on hilly stuff) I weighed around 145 back then, didn't mind me on it, bro hopped on it @ 190, different story, wasn't going anywhere if he didn't clutch it into the powerband.

Which is faster a crf150r or a yz85?

First off i think some people are thinking about the crf150 that is a trailbike, you are talking about the first 4 stroke bike that races in the 85cc class. As far as the big bikes go the four strokes are faster. Or the power is more controlable. I think I would go with the crf because i have seen a few at the track and they seem to be pretty swift bikes. Getting nearly all the holeshots so far. I hope this helps you out.

Should I get a yz85 or yz125?

If my conversion is correct, you'd be 5' 11" tall, right?

Then my opinion is neither. 2 strokes are only optimum for competitive racing and it doesn't sound like that's what you want the bike for. 4 strokes will outperform 2 strokes for trail, hill, rock and mountain riding, etc, i.e. fun riding.

2 strokes aren't even made any longer by most manufacturers. With 2 strokes, you have to mix gas and oil, what a pain. 2 strokes require much more maintenance than 4 strokes and with 2 strokes the power band is very small, meaning you must consistently upshift and downshift to have any torque at all.

Seems like you want a Yamaha so I'd go with a Yz250f. Same HP as the Yz125. You'll have much more fun on a 4 stroke.

How do I make my yamaha yz85 faster and better than stock?

You can go mild or wild...How deep are your pockets?

Simple mods -- Change the pipe and gearing to track.

More expensive mods -- Have the engine ported, change the read valve assembly, use a lighter piston (Weisco), Modify suspension.

Modifying the suspension, is not needed unless you have a complete grasp of how your suspension works, and how to make the needed adjustments, and when to make those adjustments.

You can make about $400 worth of engine mods, and have a smokin fast bike...pipe, port, piston, reed valves. And it will be totally useless, if you can't control it.

Many companies offer "kit" mods. Check into them.

What would have a faster top speed Yamaha YZ85 or TTR-125?

You are comparing apples to oranges as the ttr125 is a basic trail bike with little power on offer and the yz85cc is a mx race bike. Not much of a competition really

Do people race with ttr 125 yamaha? and how fast doesn it max out at?

That depends upon what country you are in. In Australia there is no class to race them. There used to be but they are not designed to race and people were getting hurt trying to race them, so they got rid of them as a race bike choice. In America I believe you can race them, but I don't advise it as the suspension is just not made to race with and you risk the chance of getting hurt by doing so.
I would say the best you could get out of one would be 50 - 60

They are a good first recreational bike but not for mx

Yz85 shifting gears question?

if your yz85 is like my yz125, then your gear pattern is 1 down and 4 up. This means, when in neutral, one click down is 1st gear, then a FULL click up is 2nd, and so on and so forth. When in second, if you give it a half click down, you will find yourself in neutral. When in first, if you give it a half click up, you will find yourself in neutral. If you want to skip over neutral when going for either gear, be sure to give the sihfter a good positive shift with your foot to ensure you skip over the neutral spot.

What is the top speed of my yamaha yz80?

As Wiggysan said the top speed of a mx race bike is really not relevant due to the fact that they are designed for racing and when used for the purpose they were made for very seldom get tapped out. Also with an older bike like what you have they lose speed gradually due to wear and tear and no matter how well you maintain them over time an older bike will not be as fast as a new one and the yz80 put up against a new yz85 would be blown away. I would guess the other answers of around 45mph would be reasonable and an after market exhaust can make a difference to power output as if they didn't everyone would just stick with standard exhausts. It does come down to if the yz80 is suited to the exhaust that is selected to go on it as you can put several different types and find that one works much better, but if the bike was not dialled into the pipe then they can have the reverse effect . Top riders try pipes and then have the bike put on a dyno to see just which one makes the best difference to their particular bike and they work hard to get the best by adjusting settings.
