How Is It Possible To Set Only The Time On This Hotpoint Oven

How do you clean a Hotpoint oven?

Not knowing any more than the brand name there are two ways to clean ANY OVEN: self-cleaning, which reduces residues to ash, OR cleaning with a commercial spray-on cleaner or a homemade cleaner applied by hand and an adequate amount of good old “scrubbing”.Assuming that your Hotpoint does NOT have a self-cleaning system (because you could use it) then you are left with option number two: hard, nasty work while in an awkward position or on your knees. Here again, assuming that you want to this this as safely as as cheaply as possible, use baking soda and white vinegar to make a thick paste and then add some water to make it more workable. (You can add some orange or lemon oil to the concoction for a better odor.) Put on your rubber gloves on and apply the mixture to the burned on residue with a small brush, scrubbing the residue lightly to get the mixture working. Leave it to work for six to eight hours (overnight) and then rinse with water and lemon juice to not only clean but to add a pleasant smell. By the way, the rubber gloves are just to keep the gunk off your hands since nothing in either mixture will harm you.Remember, too, to HAVE FUN… if you can.

Hotpoint oven not working after self cleaning?

I know this is a long time to post an answer lol! , but maybe someone else will be please with my solution. I just move in to a new home and got the exactly same issue, i was about to unscrew the screen that holds the lid that close the door and try to push harder as the other person who answered suggested, but I decided to let door open, push bake mode (with the door open) to see what happens, and it started baking !!!!!!, I slightly close door and problem fixed . Of course I will have a handyman in the future to go inside the thing and fix it for good, but meanwhile I am baking like a pro!!!!!! I hope this helps

Hotpoint selfcleaning oven. How long does it take ?. Does it always smell like something burning?

not sure about the time, but YES, it always smells like something's burning. Because something IS burning. Everything leftover in the oven is what's being burned off. Basically, when the process is done, theres nothing left but carbon remains. Which easily comes off.

Self cleaning ovens don't actually clean, they just make the clean up easier by turning all of the leftover food into easy to clean up carbon residue.

Hotpoint oven won't work?

Sounds like you'll have to replace the igniter/gas valve assembly. Newer stoves are designed so that if the oven igniter should fail for any reason, the gas valve will not open.
It's a good safety device, but pricey to replace. I did ours on a whirlpool and the assembly was $175.00. Get the model # off of the stove and surf the net for the best price on the assembly. If it's too much just replace the stove. The only reason I replaced ours is that it's a stainless steel 6 burner commercial unit. Had it been a conventional home unit I would have just purchased a new one.

Hotpoint electric oven heats up then cools down?

I have a vintage Hotpoint electric range (circa 1970s). When set to 350 degrees it heats up, then the heating element cuts off and the oven cools off almost completely before it turns on again, and repeats the cycle. The bake and broil elements appear to be working fine, they both glow red hot. My next guess is the thermostat. Any suggestions?

PS it is a Hotpoint rs636002ht, internet search doesn't turn up anything in terms of manuals but I am able to find some parts for that model.

Why does my hotpoint stove not work?

I am not sure how you tested the elements? Elements are normally tested with a continuity light. A simple trouble light with a bulb/battery in it. I suppose you could use a volt meter set at DC voltage and hook a dry cell battery...9 volt to one side of the element. Then hook the negative to one side of the element and the positive to the positive side of the battery while the other side of the battery minus is hooked to the element there.
I will just guess you have a 220-240 stove, check your breaker box and make sure both 120volt legs are working in the Breaker box.....You maybe only picking up one 120 volt leg.
Also go back and edit your question with the make and model of your stove, will be helpful to anyone here reading who can maybe acquire the manual for you. Good Luck, I think a voltage check will be the place to start. You have a loose wire or breaker problem. (ATTACHED A ELEMENT GUIDE DIY) Probably videos online as well if you use your search engine?

I have a hotpoint oven. where do I find the model number ?

Probably in the manuals and instruction book that came with the oven. Or it could be on the back of the oven, but that would mean pulling the thing out too much trouble. Have you tried finding Hotpoints website, you will almost certainly find the model and the number that you are looking for.

Hope these comments are of some use to you.

Can I use a bake and broil element at the same time?

If you’re using an oven that has the broil element on top, this is actually a wonderful way to make pizza. It heats the crust from the bottom to ensure that it is cooked through, while at the same time providing the intense heat needed to crisp the outer edge and make sure the toppings are thoroughly cooked. it’s about as close as you can come to a professional pizza oven in the home kitchen.

Which oven rack position gets the most heat when baking?

The matter is entirely depend on the type of oven you are using and the type of food you want to cook. But the main fact is that the bottom of the oven will be heated hotter, as in an oven where the heating element is a gas burner located under a plate at the bottom of your oven, and will radiate heat upwards. So set your requirement of heat for cooking accordingly. Here we explain the different positions of oven racks:Proper Oven Rack Positions:- The rack positions are listed from the top to bottom below. Racks in GE and Hotpoint ovens are designed with specific uses.Position 1: (on some gas ranges): This is the top position, providing broil level.Position 2: This is the second top most position but its use is very rare. It is specially used where normal broil heat is not sufficient, means other than broiling fewer than 208 volt conditions.Position 3: This is the third position from the Top. The most common use of this position is for broiling. This position allows proper broiling, without burning.Position 4: This is the fourth position from top and Second position from the bottom. This is also known as baking position. To obtain the best baking results, the food is properly positioned between the heating elements.Position 5: This is the lowest setting in the oven. The use of this rack is very limited, commonly used for some special baking purpose.L - Position: This is an extra low bottom position to allow for large item roasting or for multiple items baking by placing items on this shelf and on a shelf in the "C or 3" position. (On some gas ranges)You'll find instructions for kitchen rack placement in the recipe, whether you're roasting, broiling, or baking. But how do different parts of your oven cook, and if you need to replace the rack how to do it?Use this guide to make you a better cook as it helps to deal with your oven racks. We – PartsFPS Team will gradually share the information about how to replace faulty oven racks and how to reinstall them as well.
