How to get someone to stop singing and whistling?

My mother whistles and signs so out of tune, obnoxiously and loud it is ridiculous...even if I go upstairs and close the door I can still hear her! Recently, I would talk to her while she is singing, because then she would stop and answer me. But unfortunately, she discovered that I was doing this, so when she is whistling or singing she would say "I will tell you after I am doing singing/whistling". Everytime she does it I feel like ripping out my ears and violently bashing my head against a wall until I fall unconscious. Any ideas or suggestions?

Do you think I’m a good singer and composer? Can you be honest?

You’ve probably been praised in the past, and I would echo that praise to begin with. However, how can someone improve if they are not criticized?I’m going to be exceptionally blunt, so please, take it in the spirit of kindness that it is meant. The importance of any song, especially an original song by an unknown songwriter, lies in the lyrics - if you can’t make out the lyrics, and the music is not exceptionally compelling to the point of being immediately, legendarily, recognizable (like Immigrant Song is, for example), it’s not a well-written song.I can’t actually understand any of your words. My volume’s on max, and I can barely get the consonant sounds. Clearer enunciation would be helpful, and you will want to capture attention from the beginning. You might as well have sung in a foreign language for all I actually got out of that song.Accompaniment: the drums are nice. Some nice transitions, chord sequences, unexpected chords, it’s mood-setting music. It’s a good background music kind of song, songs played at a party at the end of the night when it’s slowing down; an indie or amateur film might pick it up for an interior scene. Guitar is nice. Technique decent enough. But your start is really, really slow…about two bars too long. As a lyric-based song, people are expecting the lyrics early. Even an evolution of the riff doesn’t carry the meat of the song.Singing-wise - I’ve covered enunciation. You’ve got good breath control, clearly written the song to be within your range, so that’s good, but I can’t give any more criticism or feedback because I can’t actually tell what the words are. Your voice is pretty nice. There’s some emotiveness to your singing the words, but as I can’t tell what the words are, I’m not sure if the emoting is appropriate.Nice groove. The more I listen to it, the more I appreciate it and like it, but I would still really like to know what the words are.

Is there a way to improve my singing voice?

I've always dreamed of being a singer. I'm a 16 year old male.

The problem is my voice sounds really gay when I am singing -- I can sing on pitch (and in my head it sounds amazing), but on recording it sounds like I'm trying to be funny or cartoony or crying. In complete honesty, is there anyway that I can do something to improve my voice? Anyway to make it not sound gay? It's really my passion; it depresses me so much when I am forced to think it's not for me.

Is there any place where people will give me honest opinions on how I sing?

I would suggest you to enter a class where they teach music. Your teacher will be very critical and will tell you areas where to improve.Even your peers in the same domain will give you pointers. You can have healthy discussion music related.I employ this strategy and found to be very helpful. Not for singing but public speaking. Therefore, I would really recommend to have such a healthy group.Go and participate in contests. It doesn't have to be always indian Idol something. It can be small. When you join such a group, you will get to know of these contests. Participate in them. First you will get to meet better and awesome people and know that you have still much to learn. Winning will propel you to bigger competitions and losing will tell you where you stand.Invest in a good sound recorder. I have. I listen to myself and judge critically where you can improve.Use every opportunity to sing. Showcase talent. Listen to people and see their faces when they are listening to you. Are they mesmerized? This is also a good measure. Be aware of the people and aura you are creating, this will point out, if your audience is enjoying you or not.Keep improving. If you love something, you will definitely improve.

How do people care about receiving honest feedback about their singing?

If, in fact, they are wanting to sing publicly, then honest feedback allows them the greatest opportunity to improve or to grow to be publicly successful. Why are they looking to receive that honest feedback? Your voice is not who and what you are. It is an expression of you. It is also a form of entertaining others. If you are singing simply to express yourself then the feedback is of minimal importance. If, however, you are singing to entertain others, then honest feedback is helpful.External feedback can be hurtful if it is harsh and not constructive. It can then be taken as a personal attack if the singer is not soundly confident. Most people are in that stage of looking for external reinforcement and assurance. If the person getting feedback is still looking for external reinforcement then the feedback can be very destructive if it is not positive. It is in the fear of receiving hurtful or destructive feedback that many people would shy away from honest feedback. But if they are capable of not taking it personally then the honest feedback can allow the person to the soar in their career.
