How Long Can A Hamster Go Without Air

How long can a hamster go without water?

Hamsters are desert animals and require very little water to survive, it's possible you just don't see him drinking. Still, it is important that he not be allowed to get dehydrated. The water bottle dripping onto the bedding is cause for concern since piles of soggy bedding is a breeding ground for illness.

If you're just waiting for the pet store to open, you can feed him foods with high contents of water in the meantime to assure he stays hydrated. Foods like grapes, watermelon, lettuce, cucumber, and etc are a good stand-in until you can replace your broken bottle.

How long can a hamster go without food and water?

They can't go more than a day or two without water but they are very smart and chances are he has found a source of food and water in the house by now (bathroom, kitchen, etc). Don't give up hope, I had a hamster that was gone for nearly three weeks before he showed up (and he was just a baby, a few months old). He had gotten inside a small hole at the bottom of our dishwasher and was living there (had access to food crumbs and water under there!!!). One night I went to the kitchen to get something to drink and there he was sitting in the middle of our kitchen floor :0) I just picked him up and put him back in his cage with his siblings...

Good luck, I hope you find your hamster!

How long can a hamster live without water?

Maybe the bottle is too high or maybe you should just get her like a cap of something like a bottle cap and put water in it and maybe she will drink from there.

How long can a hamster live without food or water?

I realize this is your daughter's question and I just have to add this for safety's sake, If you can not provide food or water to a hamster (which i know you are just curious) you need to take him/her back. But to answer your question it depends on the type of hamster. A syrian would probably live 4 days with no water and 2 weeks with no food. They might be sent into hibernation by this which could result in permanent damage to the hamster. If you have a dwarf hamster i would say 3 days without water because they are so active but 3 weeks with no food because of their small size and large stock of fat. Hope this helped.

How long can hamster live without water, food and air?

Without water; about 2 days
without food; about 3 days
without air; about 30 seconds tops.

How long can you go without cleaning a hamster’s cage before the hamster dies?

What Jenna Hartman said is true. However, I am curious why you would want to know this. I mean, are you simply wondering about what might happen when you don’t clean hamster cage? Or are you planning not to clean your hamster cage longer than you usually do because of certain reason? Having trip and leaving your hamster without care perhaps?Well, I actually think most hamsters will still live as long you still give them food and water. The most obvious possibility they can die is because of stress and sickness caused by filthy environment. Especially if the cage is small. Smaller means more smelly.Normally, people who own hamsters clean the cage once each week. I say 10 days once is OK in a few occasions. If you’re too busy or just couldn’t find the time.Just please don’t experiment on this.

How long can pet gerbils last without food or water?

Not very. Gerbils need to have fresh food available for them daily, and a constant supply of water, fresh every other day.
The commitment keeping any pet means no vacations or weekend camping without boarding your pets or having a responsible person to properly care for them.
When I was younger, we had a family pet capuchin monkey, In spite of being bred and raised by a qualified primatologist, it meant no vacations or more than several hours away from home. It meant 24/7 care over and above monkey proofing the house. A vet call took a hundred mile drive and over $1000 to treat a minor respiratory condition.
Consider a capuchin monkey can live 24 years, and finding a qualified 'baby sitter' impossible.
No, I would not keep another in spite how much I would love the little $hit.
Rodents are no exception, if you can't properly care for a pet, do not keep them.
