How long does it take for a store to refund/give credit back to a debit?
I'm not sure if my question makes sense..but this is what happened... I recently returned an item at H&M and asked for a refund, which is supposed to give me back credit on my debit card. But...when i checked my transaction history on WaMu it did not show up...am i supposed to wait at least 24 hours? If it doesn't show up in at least 24 hours..what should i do? >< thanks in advance!

You should contact Walmart about it, but it shouldn't take too much longer. Yeah, normally it takes about 5 business days, but sometimes it does take just a bit longer and there can sometimes be complications. With the refund receipt they gave you when the manager refunded the card you are protected and you will be able to get the money back, no matter what. You should call Walmart's customer service number and speak with someone about the issue with the manager and the troubles he caused you. This is not so much to get him into trouble, but to insure that other customers are not caused hassles in the future. He might not take your complaint too seriously and the assistant manager may not have any power to do something about his incorrect actions, but the executive office sure can! If he is doing this too often, then his bosses need to be aware of it. This will give him the opportunity to correct his problems and grow from them.

Returned an item purchased online using my debit card to my local Macy's yesterday. The sales associate told me that since i'd used my card, the refund would post to my account "immediately." Spoke to a customer service rep on the phone a few hours later and she said the same thing. The refund still has not posted and is not even showing as pending. Was I misinformed? Agreed with Rick.When a refund is processed, it will not 'post' or be visible in your online banking account, even if the Merchant refunded immediately. It might take it 3-14 days due to different card issuers' processing efficiency and their work flow. Usually the Merchant's refund cycle is batched once daily, possibly delayed a day or two, to submit all the refund to the acquirer. As a merchant, our solution is when the delayed has been over a long time for consumers, we choose to help consumer and reach out to our aquiring bank for a refund ARN(refund aquiring reference number). Then, give the refund ARN to the consumer to contact the card issuing bank. Your card issuing bank can track down your refund via the refund ARN.
