How Long Will It Take Me To Get In Really Good Shape

How long will it take to get back in swimming shape?

I swam high school season last year and was in great shape by the end. I took like 2 months off after and then swam lightly a few times a week for most of the spring/beginning of summer. I was in okay shape, not great at all though. I didn't swim at all in July or the beginning of August. High school season started again last Wednesday, but I have pneumonia, so I'm not allowed to swim until Monday. How long do you think it will take for me to get back into the shape I was in during season last year? We practice 4 hours a day from Aug 10-23 but I missed all of that. Once school starts (the 24th) we will practice 3.5 hours 3 days a week and 1.5 hours every other day, except sundays.

How long do you think ti will take me to reach my goal?

You've made good progress in 9 days. Keep up the good work and you should be back to your old shape in a few weeks.

How long will it take me to get in good shape if I'm a 21 year old female who is 5'6" and 118 pounds?

You should start seeing results within the first 6-8 weeks, but that depends on a couple of factors.Let me explain:Any sort of physical activity has less of an impact than diet (some people say as little as 30% of losing weight is due to exercise). What this means is that if you eat a choc chip muffin for breakfast, you can't "work it off" by going to the gym - it just doesn't work that way.I would suggest you cut down on carbohydrates (bread, pasta, pastries). Also, we don't need to add sugar or salt to any meals, as most foods already have either one of the two, and from a nutritional point of view, we're getting enough by following a healthy diet. Now, in terms of gym - It's a great idea! Why? Well, for myself I feel great after a workout, it boosts my mood for some reason - which has a positive effect on self discipline, which helps me avoid eating those yummy carbs.Another point about gym, and specifically weight training for women:You won't get huge. You won't start looking like a man.Your testosterone levels are just too low to result in big muscles. Many women I've spoken to won't touch free weights because the believe this fallacy - and this is hampering their progress. How do some women get so muscular you ask?-Steroids (I'm generalizing of course).Do a couple of basic exercises like squats, bench press and pullups (have the gym staff help you with technique) and stick to those to build strength and shape your muscles. That way you kill two birds with one stone:[1] These are compound exercises - This means they work several muscles at the same time - which means you'll get great results.[2]  You'll spend less time in the gym, because you only do a few exercises -  which target several muscles at the same time, so you're  getting a full workout, in less time.Do cardio a couple of times during the week (40 min walk), but "to get in good shape" requires weight training. The most important thing is to get started. And remember, small gains are still gains, you won't transform your body overnight (this is were self discipline is important).Best of luck and have fun!

How long will it take an out-of-shape person to walk 2.5 miles?

A few months ago I definitely qualified as out-of-shape: I weigh 100kg and I only walk from my office to my car - about 30 meters. Then a friend invited me to join a marathon. “You mad bruh?”“Come on, you can just walk. Briskly. It’ll be fun!”And so I agreed. The route was 4.3mi long. I was apprehensive, and so decided to do some training. The track near my place was 1.9mi long, and so I took to walking the route and measuring my time. It first took me 40 minutes. Then as I progressed further I managed 30 minutes.I completed the 4.3mi marathon in 1 hour 20 minutes. So it should take you about 40–45 minutes to do a 2.5mi walk. Briskly, of course. As a sidenote I got a kick out of the marathon and now regularly join whatever marathon fits into my calender. I’m still out of shape, but I’m workin’ on it!

How long will it take me to run 7 miles?

I'm a 14 year old girl (5' 6" and 138 pounds). I have just started running. I have previously been really slow and not really enjoyed it. I am trying to run a 7.1 mile race in the middle of August, when I will have just turned 15. I was wondering 1. Is it even possible for me to run it? 2. If I can how long do you think it will take me. 3. Any tips for me to become a runner?
Thankss<3

How long could it take an unfit 60 year old to get into shape if she really tries?

Depending on the approach and what you define as “in shape”, there are several factors such as discipline, genetics, hormones, training history etc. to consider. Neglecting them all and just trying to guess an average and realistic timeframe I’d say it’ll take you a few weeks to feel some differences. After some additional months (~3 months) you might notice a few visual differences. And as I said, depending on what YOU define as being “in shape”, it might take you from half a year up to a year to reach your goal. Nonetheless, this is just speculation and I don’t dare to give a definitive answer. After all, you may have a look at my blog TURN. On this platform you can find the nutrition basics and soon the exercise basics series (starting in September) for fat loss, physique enhancement and body transformation. I’d be glad if that’s what you’re seeking and if it helps you out.

How long does it take to get in shape for soccer?

It depends on a lot of factors; level of competition (the better the more you need to be in shape), your current condition (the worse shape, the faster you'll improve), how old you are ( younger you will improve more with less work), and what your goals are.

And your goals (to get in shape for soccer) needs to be much more specific. It needs to be something you can measure as well. So saying "I want to be faster than everyone else" isn't really measurable. But to say, "I want to run an 11 sec, 100 yard dash" or a 5:30 mile is. So your first step is deciding exactly WHAT and WHEN you want to accomplish.

Another part of goal setting is is it reasonable. You don't have a lot of time and you're working long hard hours. So if you think you're going to do it in two weeks working out 20 minutes a day, you're wrong.

But specifically if you have 20 minutes a day to workout you can do a lot to improve. Here's a sample of what I would do:
Monday: 50 Squats/50 push-ups: Run 15 minutes.
Tuesday: 50 Lunges/10 pull-ups: Run 15 minutes doing sprint/rest
Wednesday: 20 Jumps/ 20 one leg squats: Run backward, sideways, etc.
Thursday: 10 Burpees, run in place as fast as possible. Do 10 times
Friday: Run but do some ball control work, working on skills.
Saturday: Ball control work.
Sunday: Game Time!

This isn't ideal and you can mix it up a lot but it will get you working on strength, skill endurance and speed; not just endurance which it looks like you're doing now. You could also do some of the exercises and stretching at night when you get home.

Best of luck!

How long does it take to get back in shape?

This question is a bit vague and unclear. I will try to answer and give you some clues. ( based on personal experience)Suppose you are currently healthy and you have been physically active for few years. You were athletic and strong with low body fat and generally a very fit person. You lived the good life for few years. During that time, you used good nutrition suitable for your physical sporting activities and you recovered well. You were living a low-stress life. You were thriving and doing great, physically. For some reason, you stopped for six months to a year or more. You have been following a sedentary life of office desk, poor sleeping habits, and using substandard or bad nutrition. You are living a high-stress lifestyle. If that is the case with you, then it will take about 6 months to a year before you can compare your self to the early stages of your previous fitness condition. It takes time and focus on Nutrition, Sleeping and Training the Sports to get you started back into Fitness.I suggest you go back to drawing board and start all over again. If you are absent from your physical activities less than six months, then within few weeks to a couple of months you can see a major improvement with your mobility, strength, stamina. It takes time based on nutrition, recovery and how you train. For example, I had to stop weightlifting to attend to a small injury. This break from weightlifting lasted about 2 months. When I went back to start the usual training, I was struggling with the same usual weights and the usual intensity. I had to start back again from a safe position of light weight and gradual increase of time under tension. I clearly lost some strength and power in addition to flexibility and stamina. I also gained about 5-pounds of fat.4 months later, I am in full swing and making progress every time I train. I can tell by my numbers on the major lifts. I have lost the extra body fat (I am much leaner) and I am on my way to make more progress. I had to tweak my nutrition and add more recovery time to catch up!

How many days does it usually take to get into basketball shape.?

Ok I would just like to know, so like i know it might depend on how hard you work, but if i were to work out hard everyday such as sprints, and a 3 mile run or something what might the estimate amount of time be to get in shape. Also it would help if I had some ideas for getting in shape, besides running but for agility, and jumping.

How much time does it take to get in shape physically?

Start now.Define in shape for you.Figure out where that is by comparing your present abilities to some age-matched norms.Make a plan.Don't try and do it alone. That will add more time.Keep doing.Tell me when you've changed your goals and ideas about what “in shape means to you”.Keep doing and now really enjoying.Become aware that you're in flow when you're doing the workouts and playing. Now there's not enough time to play and be in your body.Luckily you've been making maybe 8% more money than everyone else just for being active so you can find more of it, and you'll spend around 10 years less in a hospital bed.So, time is relative!
