How long would it take to save up for an used car?
Im 16 and im getting my license soon and i really want my own car. I know my parents can't afford it so i want to get my own job so I can buy a car hopefully before 2016. How many days a week would i have to work and for how long at what pay? Also if i want a jeep around how much should I save up? My parents will pay insurance so i dont have to worry about that. Gee I love trick questions. Now think carefully here. If you work one hour on those days you would make $7.50 a day. If you worked 10 hours you would make $75.00 a day. Now you have to pay taxes on that. Since we don't know where you live we have no idea if you pay state income tax or just federal tax. We also don't know if you are going to save all the money you make towards your car or if you might buy Hello Kitty nail polish every week. Do you see where i'm going with this? We have no clue. Matter of fact, we're even more clueless than you are.

So, you can't check on the internet to find out how the jeep you want costs, figure out what 10% of that is, then divide that by your expected savings amount to figure out how many paychecks it will take, then figure out how many weeks or months that will be? (I say this because you didn't tell us how often you get paid, how are we supposed to tell you how long it will take!) In that case you'll never have a job that pays more than $8.00 per hour.

Okay am a 16 year old student and I have a part time job at pizza hut I make 8.25 and hour am doing about 16 hours a week for a total of 2 weeks 32 hours. I kinda did the math and it was going to take about 6 months and one week. Please correct me if am wrong I want a 2003 nissan sentra ser spec v I've seen this car at dealers and craigslist and the price tag is about that high. Since you're 17 realistically it's going to be hard to save money because it's in you're nature to go out. . If you depend on your Job as you're only source of income then it may take an estimate of at least 6 month's to save up the $3k. My suggestion to you is do side work. Perhaps you can go by peoples hOuse and ask them if they would like their fence stained/painted. The average person would charge at least $200 and to make it luring tell them in saving up for my first car and I'm willing to do the work for $70 or whatever you think it's fair and just make sure they include the material. Maybe you can even cut down/ trim branches and charge $30 , or go on craigslist on the gigs part and see if someone posts something you can do. Also. Save up about $1,500-$2k and look for the $3k car you're wanting and try to barter like say I'll clean up you're garage, wash the exterior of you're house or maybe you're a good handyman and you can say I'll do this and this for you if you give it to me for this price. Always say this is your first car and you really want it. Most people will feel bad and try to help out. Lol. Basically if you're trying to get money to buy a car asap. I'd advice you to get money on the side because of you're just depending on that one job it may take you forever. Ps. Ask your parents or oldet ppl or friends if they can help you with some money even if you have to work for it.
