How many boxes of hair dye should I use?
I'm sure you will use two boxes, at least. I used two when doing my friends shoulder length hair and it wasnt even super thick. If your hair is that long and really thick, you might want to consider buying a third box. It's easier to take one back than it is to not have enough. Besides, everything is getting more expensive despite getting less product...know what I mean?

1 box should do you. To get the most out of the dye, be sure to evenly distribute it and to focus on your roots first. Some people section their hair but I never bother doing that. You can use the whole box, and just use it all. Even if your hair is well saturated, there will probably still be a little left. Just massage it into some parts that may need a bit more dye. I dyed my hair a few months back, and that point it was even longer than what you describe your hair as, and I only used one box. I have pretty thick hair, too.... but I have layers, so that thins it out. I bought two boxes in case, but only ended up using one [even had some extra dye at the end. Not much, but some]. You might want to do the same just 'cause you never know, but you're probably good with one. Good luck! I bet you'll look ever so pretty.

I have light blonde hair as of now, and I want to dye it using the color "Hot Tamale" by Garnier Nutrisse. My hair is pretty thick, with some light layers. 2 boxed of dye should cover it. If it doesnt you can always go back and buy another box the same color. or buy 3 then dont open the 3rd one and if u dont need it you can always return it!

2, but i wouldnt use splat if i were you. I used the lusty lavender and changed to an orange color. And it will damange your hair.
Can you mix box hair dyes?
Yes you can. Sometimes you may want to be in between two different levels of color, so mixing from the levels above and below make sense. Or if you need to counteract an undertone in your color, it may be necessary to mix in another color.Though if you do, it would be best to stay in the same color line. Mixing different lines could actually ruin your hair. Some box colors contain metallic dyes. You do not want to mix those with boxes that don't have them. You could fry your hair off. Also, make sure you follow the instructions on the box. If it tells you not to mix, it's for a good reason.
