How Many Days Was Pope Benedict

Which Pope died in 1978 after a mere 33 days in office?

John Paul I.

What has Pope Benedict XVI accomplished since taking the Papacy?

has written terrific encyclicals. he is attacking the sexual abuse cases better than many expected, updated the new order mass liturgy back to its latin roots. coming down hard on dissenting clergy, though not quick enough for some . communicating more with the orthodox patriarchs.

If Pope Benedict were one of the Village People, which one would he be?

He would be the "rough trade" Bishop guy with a long cooked cane, high neon art-deco inspired hat and an interesting version of black leather Leidenhoser and chains...
dancing on his own little altar.

" How his Blonde teutonic curls bounced to that disco beat.....he was my personal template for those days...... " Arnold S. (Gov'r of California) From "The Unstarted Lier's Biographer Edition" .....

Today I wrote a letter to Pope Benedict XVI, when I wanted to poste it on some other sites, I was unabled. Why?

What would happen if someone assassinated the pope?

Last week while Pope Benedict was in the UK the police arrested some people who Algerian on a tip off that they plotted to assassinate Pope Benedict. What if the succeeded with there plan to assassinate the Pope what would happen next? Would there be reprisals between Christians and Muslims? Thank goodness their plot to kill the Pope did not succeed.

What will Pope Benedict's title be when his resignation takes effect?

Pope Benedict announced his resignation on 11 February 2013.On 22 February, the Council for the Interpretation on Legislative Texts announced that his title would be “Pope Benedict XVI, Bishop emeritus of Rome” in keeping with the convention used for bishops around the world. On 26 February, the Vatican Press Office announced, however, that he would be known as “Pope Emeritus” - a nonsense title that effectively the same as calling a retired priest “Father Emeritus.”On 7 December 2014, an interview with the former bishop of Rome was published in which he said he had planned to be called, simply, “Father Benedict”, but was “too weak at that point to enforce it”. He caved to his advisers, who created the “pope emeritus” title. It was never the case that he would ‘revert to’ or become a cardinal after his resignation. A retired pope is not a cardinal, he is a retired bishop, unless his successor or some future pope names him a cardinal individually or changes the law generally.

How many popes are there?

There are Three or Four Popes depending on how you count the Greek Orthodox[Actually, one of them died two weeks before I first wrote this, so we're down one, but I'll write this answer on the expectation that his replacement will be appointed soon.]The Pope of The Roman Catholic ChurchThe Pope of the Palmarian Catholic Church (in Spain)The Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of All Africa (Non-Chalcedonian / Coptic Orthodox)The Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of All Africa (Chalcedonian / Greek Orthodox)... who is formally the 'Ecumenical Patriarch'. The word 'Pope', while technically correct (see comment by Achilleas Vortselas) isn't his primary title. However, in the same way that 'The President' used without qualification is normally taken to mean 'The President of the USA, 'The Pope' without qualification is normally taken to mean the Roman Catholic one. There's a simple reason why - size! The Roman Catholic Church has approximately 1.1 billion followers. The current Pope is Benedict XVI (formerly known as Cardinal Ratzinger - Popes normally take a new name on election.) [Edit: Since 2013, the Pope is Pope Francis, formerly Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio.]The Palmarian Catholic Church has approximately 2 thousand followers. The current Pope is Gregory XVIII. It has 60 priests, all of whom are Bishops. The Coptic Orthodox Church has approximately 16 million followers. There is no current Pope, since Pope Shenouda III died on March 17th (2012), ie about 2 weeks ago at time of this answer. The Greek Orthodox Church is headed by Patriarch Bartholomew, who seems to prefer the term 'Patriarch' to 'Pope' despite the fact that he is entitled to the title, which is one of seniority of the Diocese/Patriarchy.As an aside, there are some Christian Traditions who reject the idea of hierarchy, and take the view that 'all are Popes.' On that basis, there are several billion, including you and I.

What is the Pope’s salary?

They don’t get paid.Just like priests. Assuming that these priests are functioning as pastors of their parishes. It is not uncommon to have priests teaching at schools and universities. They do get paid as teachers but they don’t get paid as priests. That being said, some would say that some priests are being “paid” for saying Mass. Well “paid” has now become an inaccurate term to describe the money given to priests with such intentions. We call this money as “stipend”. It’s called so because it is meant to defray the expenses the priests acquired to be able to say Mass (electricity, water, mass supplies, church maintenance, living allowance, fuel, etc.)The pope just doesn’t get paid for the simple reason of because he is a priest. He gets donations though, for the charities that the Holy See is sponsoring.

What the hell does the pope DO?
