How many pennies in a pound?

To answer this question, we must make some assumptions about meanings. If we are talking about U.S. coinage (pennies) to weight (pound), which was my assumption, then the answer can come from a quick check on the Internet (or with real pennies and a good scale). A Web site I found shows that depending on how many pennies are pre-1982, you can have between 146 and 181 pennies in a pound. The only other choice I can think of for an answser to this would be if we are talking about pennies in an English Pound, which would not consider weight (pound), but would, instead, consider only value (Pound). That would make it 100, right?

About $36.28

The average penny currently made is 2.5 grams, there are 453.5 grams per pound, so about 181.4 pennies per pound x 20 = 3628 pennies

The number will be off from that in reality though since pennies made prior to 1982 weighed about 3.11 grams; if they were all pre-1982 pennies, it'd be about $29.
