How Much Do Hosts And Waitresses Get Paid In The State Of Texas

Waitress at Texas Roadhouse and not getting paid $2.13/hr?

So I've been a waitress at Texas Roadhouse in NC for 2 months now...and I went to get my paychecks and they all said $0.00. I asked a manager why it was zero, and she said that I was declaring enough in tips so that I was making minimum wage or more per hr--hence they don't have to pay me 2.13 an hour. So basically, all the money I make is in tips, literally. Plus I pay tip share, which totals about $100 a week. My question is, how can they get away with not paying me anything?? Its like I'm paying them to work there, since part of my tips (a large part, at that) goes to paying their busboys and hostesses. Is what they're doing legal? I'm going to talk to the head manager today, because honestly I feel like I'm being cheated. I mean they're getting a good deal, I work for them but they (personally) pay me nothing. What should I do?

Texas roadhouse hostess?

As long as you are eligible for tips, the state of Texas & the feds do not require that you receive minimum wage.

You are the low man on the totem pole. Do you have any experience prior to this job? If not, you may be having trouble because anyone who walks in and "expects" that they SHOULD receive a certain wage is usually frowned on my management.

An advancement is directly proportional to your attitude and any skills you display that would help the position for which you are vying.

Unfortunately, hostesses and waitresses are a dime a dozen, so the responsibility to step up is on YOU.

How much do cocktail waitresses at strip clubs make?...?

You could truly be the most honest, wonderful, and church going person on earth, your resume when your done waiting, then turning to stirpping as most do, will give such a bad impression, you might find some dream job, and they will see that listed and not value you as the person you were before hanging out in those places. The men you will meet and date, 90 per cent are losers, and when they see how nieve you are, the clubs will take advantage of you. Some do not pay a base rate, some strip places make the girls pay just to work there, yes, they do, and on top of that, they will consider anyone workng there someone of ill repute and not be honest with you.
Min wage plus tips, is the norm, some states are as low as 2.17 per hour, and then your tips that you will pay your own taxes on. In this economy theres not much tipping going on these days. 2 years ago, a ton of money now days, not much.

How much do busser's make at Texas Roadhouse or restaurants like that?

In my 4 years of experiences as a busser, bar-back, host, expo, food runner, and floater in the restaurant industry it all varies on the establishment. Meaning every restaurant/business has different policies of payment for a specific job (like a busser or host) that an employ performs. The restaurant industry standard for a bussers' income (entry level job) is a hourly pay plus tip out from servers. The hourly pay varies (like I said in the beginning) in the state of Florida from $4.65 to $7.67!!!

Why don't we just pay waiters and waitresses normal wages?

Here’s the thing, waiting tables is hard. It looks easy and in principle it is simple but it is not easy. A good waiter will make it look easy. Some restaurants have tried doing away with tipping and abandoned it. They have raised their prices and still are unable to compete with tipping. Why Restaurants Are Ditching The Switch To No TippingMany people on Quora resent tipping but I promise you if, by magic, tipping were eliminated the level of service from the new minimum wage waiters would decline dramatically from the present day standard. People don’t realize how demanding waiting tables is.I have posted an answer to this question many times and feedback I get is service in Europe is bad when compared to service in the US.Here’s what one Quora contributor has to say on the subject and she is not the only one only the most articulate.Ever been to Europe? How was your service level there? My personal experience (when I traveled with family) resulted in the following comments from my family and me -1. Why is she so lazy?2. Do they even care?3. Wow! I had to go find the waiter to be served15 years in the US and besides maybe a dozen experiences I have always felt a 20% tip was justified. From cab service where I follow the rule -$1 for saying hello$1 for taking my luggage$1 for driving safely$1 for extra attention and being friendlyI have almost always given a full $4 tipGo to most restaurants in NYC and see the level of service you get there compared to Europe. The only place where service levels are even better is in Asia.
