How Much Is My Violin Worth

How much is my violin worth?

...$300 for a low estimate and $450 high, good luck...

How much is my violin worth?

You would need to take it to a professional to get it looked at. I don't want to discourage you, but I do want to prepare you for the fact that (in my experience) you will probably get back quite a bit less than you hope. While a Scherl & Roth violin is a very nice beginning student violin, it will not increase in value. It is a common misconception that all violins appreciate, while these beginning violins will actually depreciate.

In addition, music stores typically mark up instruments quite a bit over their value to make a profit. I just found your same model number online, brand new, for $650. I would guess that if the instrument is in very good condition, you might get $300, if you can find a buyer, but you will probably be lucky to get even $200.

You can try selling it on consignment with a local dealer. Even though you will have to pay them a cut of the profit, they will get more for the instrument than you will probably be able to get, so their commission won't hurt as much AND they are more likely to find a buyer. You can also try Ebay and craigslist.org. One final option would be to contact strings teachers at local schools to see if they either have a student that they know of who is looking for an instrument like yours, or would be willing to let you send home an advertisement flyer with their students. As a string teacher myself, I have helped several instuments find new owners this way.

Best wishes to you. I hope you find the right buyer and whatever price you are hoping for.

If it's still in roughly the same shape it was in when you bought it you should be able to sell it for close to the same price. The problem is finding a buyer. The easiest way to sell it is to have a string store sell it on consignment, but they take a good chunk of the sale price.

How much is my violin worth from 1734?

well my friend gave me a violin that her grandfather had. inside the sound holes there is a stamp that says Antonius Stradiuarius Cremonenisi Faciebat Anno 1734 made in Japan, and then there is a little sticker you can tell that it is very old and the sticker says repaired
Webster L. Howell
1217 Pennsylvania avenue
East Liverpool Ohio

so i was just wondering how much it really is worth.
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How Much Is A 1734 Violin Worth?

Look through one of the sound holes, you will see a label with the model and make.
If there is none, it could have fallen off. Then, you would have to get it evalutated by a Luthier. Who knows, it could be worth a small fortune and a half. LOL

If you have a Stradivarius or the like, this is the correct info on the label in the sound hole.

ANTONIUS STRADIUARIUS CREMONENSIS
FACIEBAT ANNO 17xx

For a STRAD violin to be genuine, it will still have a short neck and fingerboard, or it will have been converted to a modern setup (mid-1800's). If converted, there will be visible evidence of it. If there is no visible signs of a conversion, and it is in modern setup, then it was made after c. 1850.

Her eis a good site with images. This will help identify your violin pretty well even if it is a copy. It can be worth $1000 +

1893 Violin Worth How Much?

Well, I'm not exactly sure on that, but a 1900s violin typically goes for around 8,000-10,000 USD.

So, I'm not exactly sure, maybe add or take a thousand..?

How much is a 100-year-old violin worth?

It doesn't matter how old your violin is, or what it looks like, it is all about the sound that it makes. If you look inside the instrument there should be a label either telling you who the maker was or telling you what style it was constructed in...ie. many say stradivarius---and they aren't actual, just constructed after the design. Be careful before you pay someone to appraise your instument, because there are many $100 century old violins out there. See if you can do some research on your own. Or if you play, you may be able to tell by how your instrument sounds. Good luck!

Why are some violins worth millions?

In 2008, violinist Philippe Quint was flying back from a concert in Dallas to New York.He took a taxi from the airport to Manhattan. But before he could take his violin out, the car pulled away. The cab driver returned the instrument a few hours later but nonetheless, the incident had scarred Philippe for life.He said it felt like his hand got cut off.Nicknamed ‘Ruby’, Philippe’s violin is a Stradivarius, worth over $4 million.Stradivarius is for Antonio Stradivari, a violin maker who lived in Cremona, Italy during the 17th and 18th century. He personally hand-crafted 1,100 violins, of which only about 650 remain today.Philippe’s violin is one of those 650.Right there is already part of the explanation as to why an original Stradivarius is worth millions. But there’s more.Today’s violinists claim the sound quality of a Stradivarius just cannot be matched with a modern one. It’s like a religion for them.To find out whether Stradivari really had a secret technique, something nobody has been able to figure out, researchers conducted a study where they blindfolded violinists and had them play a series of violins, some new, some old and some crafted by the hand of Stradivari. The research found the reported difference in quality between Stradivarius’ violins and modern violins isn’t factual. Many of the violinists in the study actually pointed at a modern violin as their preferred one. What really sets a Stradivarius apart though, is the history and tradition it carries. These are hand-crafted masterpieces that carry over 300 years of history in them and belonged to kings and dukes as well as some of the most legendary violinists.Playing one of these things feels like being a part of history.
