How much does it really cost to build a 8000 sq ft home not counting land or tax (just the labor and materials) in suburbs of San Jose?
At the low end you could probably get by with a million but this would require some fairly rustic materials and a fairly open plan. On the high end there is nothing to stop you from spending a thousand dollars per square foot. Likely you would end up somewhere in the middle. It is a large structure so foundation and structure would need to be substantial. Guess 250-350 a foot. I might be able to save you half or more of the cost.
