How Much Should I Pay For A Tune-up For My 2002 Honda Civic

What parts do you need to tune up a 2001 Honda Civic LX?

It has about 150,000 miles on it. I know this is terrible but I've only ever replaced the tires, gotten oil changes about every 5,000 miles and replaced the oil/cabin filters a few times. Recently the AC broke and I had to replace a part. Now I'm thinking I should tune it up so it doesn't completely fall apart on me anytime soon. C'mon car experts, I need your help!

Is it safe to use low octane gas on honda civic 2011?

Aside from what the book recommends, lower octane fuels don't burn as completely and efficiently as higher grades. This can leave behind deposits that will build up over time in the engine and your catalytic converter. That's a $1000 part by the way. So even if the manual says low grades can be used I would still stick with mid or higher octane gas. What many people try to save at the pump they will end up paying for anyway, and more, later in repairs and tune-ups. I've torn down more than a few engines that I could tell they've run cheaper low grade fuels in with knowing any history. That said, you won't kill your engine with a tank of low octane or two. And typically, unless you ran it bone dry, you'll have some of what you had in the tank before to mix with it. If the car was designed to run on the higher grade then you may notice a difference in power and efficiency. I would especially be concerned about that catalytic converter being affected though. Unburned fuel or deposits from low grade fuel can plug that up causing to heat up and fail. There's no cheap fix for a bad cat converter. That also applys to "discount" fuel stations. I prefer Shell, Mobil or Chevron but it depends on what region you live in. BTW, another plus about higher grade fuels is because they burn more completely, they also provide more power per cycle and therefore better fuel economy.

Think of the extra $ you are paying for higher octane at the pump as insurance towards a more reliable and longer lasting car. Hondas rock when it comes to reliability but only if you keep up with what's recommended.

Should I use premium gas in my Honda civic 2016?

Use what your owner’s manual recommends. Most cars run just fine on regular, low octane fuel. Unless you have one of the high performance engines, your car most likely uses regular fuel.Octane rating, that number on the pump, represents the anti-knock index of the fuel you are putting in your tank. Premium fuel isn’t any better than regular gas, it simply has more octane in it. Octane keeps your fuel mixture from detonating prematurely in your cylinder. Detonation causes knocking/pinging that you can usually hear when accelerating hard. It sounds like there are a bunch of ball bearings in your cylinders. This causes damage. If you can hear pinging/knocking when accelerating, you probably need a tune up or to run higher octane fuel. Many new cars have knock sensors which retard the ignition, which reduces engine power, but keeps it from knocking. This is why you should look up the recommended octane rating in your owner’s manual.Using higher octane gas in your engine that doesn’t require it wastes money. You do not get more power and in some engines, you might actually get somewhat worse mileage. Most fuel stations use exactly the same gas for regular, midgrade and premium fuels. In fact midgrade at most stations is a mixture of gas from the regular storage tank and the premium tank. They don’t even have a midgrade tank. Same gas, different octane.Use the recommended fuel in your tank. If you don’t have your owner’s manual, stop by the dealership or look it up online.

Why does a 2008 Honda Civic hybrid need to have a camber kit installed for proper wheel alignment? Or does it need it at all?

If you’re taking your car to a dealer, and the dealer is suggesting a “camber kit” for the rear suspension, they might be talking about an updated part. There was a Product Update for 2006–2011 Civic’s regarding rear upper control arms. The update was a result from premature tire wear. Specifically on rear tires, on the inboard edges of the tires. The updated rear upper control arms helped correct negative camber of the rear suspension. With this, there was also an updated rear toe-in specification. Replacing these rear upper control arms, and completing a 4 wheel alignment corrected further premature tire wear. However, if you’re tires are already damaged or worn down, you may need to mount and balance at least 2 new tires.Somewhat related to camber and rapid tire wear: I also believe that under the rear section of the vehicle, there is a plastic aerodynamic shield that accumulates gravel and sand. Gravel and sand builds up over time and weighs down the rear end. With the rear end always sagging, the suspension compresses causing Negative Camber. Thus promoting rapid rear tire wear. Remove the shield, and clean this build up.

Why does my Honda Civic LX 2002 crank but not start?

Air, fuel and spark are needed.Assuming you don't have any check engine lights:Check your oil first just to see if it's there. Cars burn oil and low oil level will prevent it from starting.Listen for the fuel pump buzz when you turn the key to the on position, and check for spark at the coil or test the coil to start with.Figuring out if you have fuel at the injectors is pretty simple if you release the pressure at the line, fuel should come out (use a rag to catch the fuel). If you have fuel at the fuel rail you can rule it out for the most part and move on to check for ignition problems. Though a clogged fuel filter can send fuel up sometimes just not enough, etc. Anyway if you have fuel rule it out and move on.Try to look in the valve cover through the oil fill hole and see if you can see the cam turn when you crank it. Put your hand over the exhaust and crank it, if the air doesn't get warm you probably don't have ignition, if there is no air coming out you might need a timing belt/chain or cylinder head rebuild. The ignition system can always use a tune up if it hasn't been done lately, fresh plugs, wires and coils help a lot. Some Honda's are really picky about battery voltage being high enough to turn the computer on.It's a Honda and they have modules for the ECU, ignition, etc. If one of those are bad it can make your Honda not start. They're usually by the fuse box, under the back seat or both. That's a good Honda place to start, I've had problems with those a few times on various Hondas especially intermittent issues. If you had a check engine light on, start there and if all else fails double check the basics
