How Old Are Pitt Bulls When They Go In Heat

How old should my pit bull be before I mate her?

Considering that there seems to be many pit bulls in rescues, and it is impossible to tell if people who answer your advertisement for pups are buying it as pet or are agents for dog fighting, or just idiots who think they want macho dog, I would strongly advise against breeding her.Breeding a litter is expensive even if everything goes to plan and she whelps without problems. She needs to be fed ever increasing amount of good quality food through her pregnancy and while she is nursing. Then you will have to feed the growing pups. I would spend couple of hundred dollars a week during this time. Then there are routine vet bills, it’s good idea to have her checked before mating, then having her checked after delivery, vaccinating the pups ….. etc.But if something goes wrong, c-section in the middle of the night at emergency clinic, can cost a fortune. Heard somebody recently mentioning $7 000, yes seven THOUSAND. I thought it was steep when I paid couple of thousands few years back. And other time I paid couple of hundred dollars for just walking into the surgery when the bitch was taking bit too long between pups, as I was waiting for the vet she delivered the last one, the vet came in, confirmed what I already knew - there were no more, and I just handed over my credit card on the way out. :)Having a litter is not a way to make a quick buck.

How often do pitbulls go into heat?

That is way to soon for her to be coming into heat again, female dogs go into estrus or heat usually every 6 months(Fall and Spring),this is not normal at all,I would suggest you call a vet ASAP.

ADD:Im not a vet so I am not sure as to all the things that could be causing this, but it could be something as serious as Pyometra, which requires vet attention immediately.

Heres a link that explains Pyometra.

When do female pitbulls have their period?

She will start her cycle around 8-10 months each dog is different just like people. And will last approx 21 days. If you are not going to breed her I say have her spayed 1 month after the first heat. Hope I helped ya. Good Luck

A what age did your pit bull go into heat? And how long did it last?

i believe she got her 1st heat around a yr old.if i remember correctly it was something like 7days coming 7days going -she ll swellup first &then bleed .you may not want to breed 1st heat for her health& if u love her i would spaye her after 3 litters.after she gives birth nutrients in puppy food will be good 4 her.good luck!

At what age does a female pitbull stop going into heat?

Either when they're spayed or dead. They don't go through Menopause, as they to not Menstruate. B*tches go through the Estrus cycle, which is the exact opposite as a woman having her period.

AT HOW OLD CAN I BREED MY FEMALE PITBULL?

your puppy will come into heat at between 8 to 13 months you can breed her the first time she comes in, if you ask a vet they will tell you that it is best to skip the first heat. Which I agree with a hundred percent. but you do what you want to she is your dog if you want to stunt her growth and take a chance of having problem with the litter than by all mean breed her the first heat, but if you are looking to start a pit farm with a four month old pup then you have a long road ahead of you. and if want to do the right thing and breed her in her second heat you are looking at 12 to 18 more months before she is ready. and another thing if she doesn't have papers you are wasting your time you will have 150 to 200 dollar pups.
