I run on my treadmill and instead of running everyday sometimes im going to do sprints instead. whats a good way to run sprints? should i sprint then jog, should i sprint then stop then go again. also how long should the sprints be ?

Is it alright to run/sprint on a manual treadmill?

Hiya :) My family recently got a manual treadmill and I've been anxious to use it. My mum told me that you should only walk on a manual treadmill, power walk at most. I would like to know if this is true. I run track so it's important for me to practice my sprinting.
Thanks! ^.^

Will jogging on the treadmill help my 200m sprint?

Hey Jenny.

Jogging on the treadmill wont do a whole lot for your 200m time. To get the endurance you really need to be on the track.

If you have the option of running outside, do lots of intervals and fartlek (you can google it). But if you are stuck at home, do lots of strength exercises that take endurance.

Do 4 sets of squats as fast as you can with control for 30 seconds.
Do lots of jumping, sprinting and running on the spot and lay something like a ladder down and sprint with your feet landing between the ledges.

Its all about strength and power in sprinting.

Best of luck. I hope you get faster.

How should I do interval cardio on treadmill?

Turn it off, go outside, find some steep hills and start running uphill:10 40 yard sprints (50% max speed)10 50 yards sprints (60% max speed)10 60 yard sprints (70% max speed)10 70 yard sprints (80% max speed)12 100 yard sprints (90 - 100% max speed)All wind sprints must be performed from 75% to 95% max speed up steep hills.Trying to do REAL interval cardio on a treadmill is like trying to drive a Ferrari on a high school track and field oval - it just doesn’t work. My treadmill is gathering dust because at the bottom of a 100 yard hill that is about a 4–5 degree grade so why would I try……. you get my picture? There is nothing like the real world workout on real world conditions. Take the chains off and find some serious hills to climb or run up Mt. Beacon (Upstate New York in Beacon) LIKE terrain or surfaces. Fortunate for me, Mt. Beacon is a 1,611′ feet climb giving a person plenty of opportunities to do 20–30–45 and 60 second interval sprint running up the mountain hiking trail whereby you can walk for a 15 - 30 second period to recover before you run more interval sprints. This is one of my favorite places to do my interval training runs early in the morning:Mt. BeaconGet out of the house, get some fresh air and sun and run your interval cardio on a MOUNTAIN and not a treadmill. Guys: How fast do you jog on the treadmill?

Depends how far I'm going.
I will do anything from a 12 (5mph) minute per mile pace up to 9 minutes per mile (6.6mph). However I'm a distance runner. So speed isn't really my forte. My most comfortable pace outside is 10 minutes per mile. So around a 6mph pace).
When I'm doing 10 or more miles I slow it down to 11 (5.5mph) for comfort. But that is not on a treadmill. Have you tried doing a long run on the treadmill? Not fun.

While doing HIIT, using a treadmill, I pushed it for the last sprint. I felt a strange sensation near my stomach and then felt like I could run faster. What is it?

Nor really my field , but “second wind” maybe….What's happening when you get a second wind?
