What is the law about child actors and school?
if a child is filming. do they get counted absent from public school even though they are schooling on set? i need to know what the law is so i can inform my daughter's school.
Do actors go to school?
Almost all Disney actors (and other child actors) go to stage schools. They have normal classes in the usual school classes as well as acting, singing and dancing classes. They have to work very hard, for very long hours. Everything gets filmed months before you actually see it on TV, but what usually happens, especially for the younger kids, is they attend normal school in the mornings and do any filming in the afternoons - or vice versa. Their days can last from 6am to 8pm.
When do child actors go to school?
Set education is often horrible. The social workers/set teachers are qualified, but the conditions are awful.School time is usually done during set and camera changes. Sometimes the kids get 15 minutes only at a time. It takes that long just to settle the kids and get them started on work. They are lucky to get 30 minutes at a stretch.They are often at different levels of schooling and the teacher is forced to divide their time between them.When they are not scheduled for work that day, they go to regular school or home school. The regular school teacher often resents the child actor that makes more money than they do. Kids are often just given busy work and not real schooling.Often the child actor is too tired from acting, still in acting mode and can't revert easily. Film actors have it easier than TV and Theatre actors do. They have time in between projects to get actual work done.And if you have a bad teacher, it gets worse. I had one teacher fired because she was too interested in getting acting jobs herself to watch over and protect my child. My daughter has suffered from heat exhaustion, hyperthermia, and pneumonia because of set conditions. I had to nix a scene myself because it was down right dangerous (bicycling down a cliff!).There is a reason so many child actors are functional illiterates. SAG has worked hard to correct this and protect child actors, but not enough in my opinion.Many people also think that the government and Unions protect children's working conditions and pay. They don't. There are no federal regulations governing child actors. It is left up to the states. Some states are protective, like California, others are not.Often, the decision of where to film is based on the states child actor regulations. They film where the regulations are the least onerous...Canada and North Carolina need a lot of work in this area. Protection of money is also not automatic. Again depends on the state of residence of the child. And if the project is non-union, all bets are off.My daughter finally quit acting to concentrate on school.
Do child/teen actors and entertainers go to school?
yes i used to go to a school that kristen stewart attended. obviously she no longer goes there but is planning to return to school and finish up senior year sometime but if they dont have the time they will get homeschooling or independant study which is alot more convinient
Do young actors/actress still have to go to school?
This might be a dumb question but i was just wondering if young like teen actors still have to go to school. or do they do like just acting school or something? or since that is their career they dont have to worry about school
How do child actors get started?
Many talent agencies have a section for underage talents, very often these kids are there because their parents are already in the business but it's not always the case. Here's my experience: my mother used to work for television and she overheard there was a casting call for kids, at the time i was 6 and keep saying to her that i'd liked to be an actor so she just asked me if i wanted to try, she did'nt push me in any way , then i found out about agencies and asked her i f i could find one for myself. Sometimes casting directors make also public calls to find new talents, they do it also to avoid some typical brainwashed kid, but it usually happens when they want to find people that live close to the location of the set. Another option is you're just lucky to be spotted by a talent scout.

Why do famous kid actors have to be home-schooled?
They don't have to be home schooled, but many are because of scheduling and sometimes security issues. Max, your answer was actually pretty good this time, although I still think you are full of it. If home schooling ruined your life and because of it you have no social skills then there would be no way you could be an "actor". Instead of sitting on your lazy behind feeling sorry for yourself you may want to think about getting out an living. If you really were an actor you would be around many kinds of people on a very regular basis, so you lack of social skills are YOUR fault and no fault of home schooling.
How do child actors/actresses get educated?
They don't...which explains why they all end up in rehab/jail.
