How To Clean Hard Drives In Windows 8

Installing windows 8 on a bare hardrive.?

The only way you would need a previous version of Windows on your computer is if you bought the Windows 8 UPGRADE as opposed to the 'full' version.

If you can get hold of a Windows 8 'full' version, then you will be able to install it on a 'bare' harddrive.

If you can only find the UPGRADE to purchase, then it's very easy to quickly install a clean version of Windows 7 (it will not be activated). Select the Windows 7 version appropriate to your operating system here: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads...

It is in '.iso' form so you will need to burn it to disc. Simply install it normally and then once that is done, insert your Windows 8 installation disc and you will be able to begin upgrading immediately. I had to do this with my computer as I wiped the harddrive for a fresh Windows 8 install only to discover that I had to install Windows 7 first! It worked fine for me. If you wish to remove the leftover traces of Windows 7 once you have installed Windows 8 over it, follow these steps:

1. Open Control Panel in Windows 8
2. Click 'System and Security'
3. Select 'Free Up Disk Space'
4. Select or deselect additional items which you want to clean
5. Click the 'Cleanup System Files' button
6. Windows 8 will need to check the hard disk for the additional files to include in the list, but once it’s done, the Previous Windows installation(s) option will be included. Go ahead and select the Previous Windows installation(s) option, because you’ll definitely want to remove that.

Hope this helps, the above steps are not particularly important but it's only if you would like to have a clean harddrive! :)

Do you have to repurchase windows after a hard drive fail?

So my hard drive failed and I bought a new one. I ordered windows 8 system builder which isn't here yet. Or is there a way to reinstall windows 7 again without having to pay 100 dollars. Thanks.

Why windows cannot be installed on GPT hard disks?

MBR and GPT are two formats of hard disk. MBR is the abbreviation of master bootable record, whereas GPT is abbreviation of GUID partition table. In order to boot Windows from GPT, the motherboard of the device should support UEFI, else, it is better to use MBR to boot from. When installing Windows on UEFI-based PCs using Windows Setup, your hard drive partition style must be set up to support either UEFI mode or legacy BIOS-compatibility mode. You receive such an error, because your PC is booted in UEFI mode, but your hard drive is not configured for UEFI mode. You’ve got a few options:Reboot the PC in legacy BIOS-compatibility mode. This option lets you keep the existing partition style. For more information on this, read this TechNet article titled Boot to UEFI Mode or Legacy BIOS mode.Wipe drive and reformat the drive so as to be able to use the PC’s firmware features.Wipe a drive and convert to MBROpen an elevated command prompt window and type diskpart and hit Enter.Next type list disk and hit Enter. The list of disks will be displayed. Select the disk and type the following command and hit Enter, replacing x with the number of your disk you want to clean. The disk will have GPT marked against it.The disk will be selecteddiskpart-cleanNext type clean and hit Enter. Do NOTE that, once you enter this command, all data on the disk will be lost, so if you need to, take backups of your data. You will now have to convert GPT to MBR using Diskpart. Moreover, if you cannot afford to clean the entire disk or wipe your data, you may want to make use of the following third-party software that let you convert GPT to MBR easily.EaseUS partition master will let you convert GPT to MBR for a particular drive only. You can use it to process the drive on which you plan to install Windows 10, and which is giving you the trouble. How to free convert GPT disk to MBR disk without any data loss?

Why I get the message: we couldn't find any drive to install windows?

Hi
I recently changed my laptop's operating system from win 7 to win 8(dell inspiron n5110 core i5, 500G HDD, 4G RAM). after a few weeks the win 8 hangs repeatedly, and unfortunately I lost my win 7 installing disk. so I installed vista. Vista make a new 2Gb drive automatically. after some time I decided to install win8 again. So then I put my Windows Home Edition 64 bit DVD into the DVD drive and booted from the DVD drive. The installation went through normally up until I had to choose what drive I had to install to. there were 6 drives. I was wondered! Because there was a new drive 39Mb:
1- 39 Mb
2- 2Gb
3- C =100 Gb
4- D = 146 Gb
5- F = 146 Gb
6- G = 76 Gb
I formatted the first three drives and select drive C to installing windows. I’m not sure if first two drives were empty before formatting them or not( I didn't save any thing in drive 2 Gb already. Then I clicked next to install windows. Installing went through normally but after multiple restarting windows show an error:
"Recovery
your PC couldn't start properly
after multiple tries, the operating system on your PC failed to start, so it needs to be repaired.
Error code: 0x0000001
you'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. if you don't have any installation media ( like a disk or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.
press Enter to try again
Press F8 for startup settings".
After that I frequently tried to reboot win8 but at this time when reaching the step of ‘which drive you want to install windows’ I get the message "We couldn't find any drives. To get a storage drive click load driver". I clicked load driver bottom but I don’t know what driver I need and how installing it. now i can't install any operating system( win8, win 7 and vista) on the laptop. How do i get back my hard drives? However I had 350 Gb private data in hard drives D, F and G( except C) and unfortunately I haven’t any backup of them. I’m so afraid of losing my data:sad:! Please help me what should I do about this.
Any help will be appreciated
