How To Clear A Nose Piercing Infection

How long will it take for my nose piercing infection to clear?

I got it pierced about 6 weeks ago, and now there's a large red bump next to the piercing. I know it's infected, and it has been for about a week now.
I've been cleaning it with boiling salt water and applying antiseptic cream on it every day.
It's getting slightly better, as it was much worse at the start of the week, but does anyone know how much longer it will take to clear up?

Nose piercing infected after 3+ years?

Do you have good quality jewelry you can put in rather than the retainer? If so, then put it in. Plastic is porous, so it can make this worse because it holds in bacteria and etc. I'd like you to have a good quality metal in there, such as surgical steel, titanium, or 18K or higher gold.

Continue the saline rinses - in fact, really flood the area when you do this. Do them 2-3 times per day. They'll continue to help.

The itchiness is normal in a piercing that got irritated and is now healing from that. So is a bit of crust that doesn't smell. If the crust starts to smell, then you can worry about infection, but right now, I think it's just irritated. This can happen even to well healed piercings that get tugged or pulled. Treat it well, and it should heal back up.

Is my nose piercing infected?

the problem with putting peroxide or any form of alcohol on a piercing is that it dries out the surrounding area to such a degree that it can lead to permanent scarring. It's better to use Tea Tree Oil (which can be found in any pharmacy). Tea Tree Oil is a natural topical anti-infective. When my tragus piercing formed a bump I used a q-tip to dab the piercing with the tea tree oil and then rotated the bar. The bump went away after three days, I kid you not.

Oh and things like neosporin, while keeping foreign material out, have been known to trap bacteria and what not in the wound prolonging the healing period.

So in short: clean the piercing 2-3 times a day with Dial followed by a drop or two of Tea Tree Oil, and do warm sea-salt soaks before bed to drain any fluid caught in the piercing/bump.

Which is better to cure a nose piercing infection?

The good news? That's not pus. It's sebum, the same stuff that comes out of a zit when you pop it.

The bad news? It shows up in liquid form when an infection is starting. Sea salt and warm water is the only thing you need. DO NOT use rubbing alcohol, peroxide, neosporin, or anything for wounds. You need to air it out and clean it with seal salt water. You cannot use table salt; it doesn't have the same healing properties.

How can i fix my infected nose piercing?

This is going to sound gross, but I promise it works. The exact same thing happened to me when I got my nose pierced. After I got it cleared up I've NEVER had a problem with it and it's been over two years.

First, do exactly what every one else is saying about warm water and sea salt. You should do it twice a day and apply it with a q-tip or cotton ball. Also, when you're in the shower make sure no scented soap gets on your nose, that only irritates it.

As for the bump, this is the gross part but it was the piercer who told me to do it and it worked (it also doesn't really hurt). Take a needle and sterilize it by putting it through a flame (no alcohol ever!!!). Then put the needle in the bump and squeeze to get out the infection. It will scab over, don't pick it! It will heal in a couple of days with no scarring just like any other minor cut. Make sure to use a needle for this as anything bigger/harsher may scar.

Just make sure you stick with the sea salt religiously twice a day and you should be fine. Mine cleared up in about a week. Good luck!

What is the best way to heal an infected nose piercing?

You can use natural aloe vera gel after you do your daily clean of the piercing.Or (I swear by this solution)… an ibuprofen and some sea salt, and make it into some powder, then add a little bit of water to make into a paste. Wash your ear as you would do normally, clean it as best as you can with a cotton bud, then put enough paste to cover the area infected. Leave this for a few hours, or all night whilst sleeping. Do this for a few days and hopefully it should start to heal. You can also use preparation H ( it is an anal cream but really does help piercings). Clean your piercing as normal then dry it. Then put some on your piercing using a cotton bud.If these things don't work, go back to your piercer, they may advise you to go to your doctors. But always see your piercer FIRST as they can try and save the piercing, if not they'll say to take it out. If you go to your doctor before the piercer, 9 times out of 10 they will tell you to take it out.

How can I get rid of a closed nose piercing mark (which was infected in the past which is why I took my piercing out)?

Piercings can sometimes heal perfectly, and when taken out gradually close and become invisible. But sometimes a small scar or point or mark or dimple or irregularity remains. So be it. It is the reminder of a period of your life, just like you have other signs elsewhere on your body. A body is a living, working instrument, not the perfect and to be preserved ideal construction. Rather be proud of your past, accept the past and present. And the best way to hide a mark from a previous piercing, is to repierce the same area.
