How to I convince my parents to let me skip school?
Well, I feel wicked sick. And I was around my friend who came down with the stomach flu all week. And friday I skipped school, and I asked my mom to let me skip tomorrow if I feel sick and she told me she didn't believe that I was sick. I told her I had a fever, and she was like, "Lemme see the thermometer." And I checked again, but it was gone, so she thought I was lying.. Bad luck for me right? Soooooo.. How do I convince her to let me stay home tomorrow if i'm still feeling crappy?? Thanks(:

i really want to skip school tomorrow, and i think if i ask my mom tomorrow if i could skip she would say no cause it's one of her days off, and tomorrow is our first day back from winter break, and i've ben staying up really late during the break (like going to sleep in 5 in the mourning and waking up at 1 or 2 in the afternoon) I've laid in my bed for about 3 hours now trying to fall asleep, and i still can't, and i'm not even tired at all, and i really don't want to go to school tomorrow all sleepy cause i couldn't go to bed. Do you think if i told my mom she would let me?, please help. :( And by the way don't tell me to try to go to bed now, cause i can't.

You've explained your problem beautifully to us, but maybe not so clearly to your parents. Perhaps one way of dealing with it would be to write it down, or even show them this question on YA. No caring parent wants their child to be so miserable they're sick, they mjght think it will be good for your development but forcing a young person into such a situation when you feel so strongly about it is likely to do more harm than good. And the fact that you have an educational alternative in mind is also in your favour. Do some research and see if you can find some available courses. However, it may be that your parents need to send you to camp for their own reasons. For example if they both work and can't take time off to look after you, or maybe camp is non-refundable and they can't afford to pay for the science course instead, or another good reason. Try talking to them again to find out. In the worst case scenario, if they do pack you off to camp, you may wish to consider going to your local pharmacy/drugstore and asking about natural remedies for anxiety. If you do look into this, make sure to check with the pharmacist that your asthma medication wouldn't be affected in any way. Hope it all works out well for you.

Hmmm...I agree with the person who said to just be honest and ask. Maybe he could offer to draw up a contract with his mom, maybe something saying that he will do extra chores or agree to bring home extra credit homework every day for a week to help make up for the day he missed. It would have to be serious, something he and she could actually sign and something that he would HAVE to agree to, not just say just to get the day off. If his mom sees that he's honest and serious about it and will work hard to do extra work for a little while, she might give in. But he has to be SERIOUS about it and actually DO it, and there has to be some consequence if he doesn't, and he has to readily agree to the consequences, too.

Oh the boy who cried wolf .........tell your parents that you know they let you stay home already and you know that they do not want you to miss school again , but please hear you out before they decide........ now your on ....... tell them how important this project is and that you really need to do this and practice...further explain that you will make up all lost work you miss ..and do it....and last say I will not ask again if it is not urgent .... tell them this is not something you would normally ask so soon , if it wasn't so important ...if they are sappy like me ...........you are home free........if not ...well...
How to convince your parents to let you skip a grade?
I am going into the 7th grade this year and am home schooledd. I want to skip a grade b/c i feel like I can be doing way more work and that school is too easy. I also want to get ahead b4 high school b/c it is harder to skip grades in high school. My parents and I have talked about it and they are still sorta skeptical. Can you help me? Thanks.
