How long will it take me to learn C or C++ (to make a video game)?
me and some friends want to make a video game.. we have some AMAZING ideas but i know that just having ideas isnt good enough.. we need skills.... like programing.. if i go buy one of these 20-40 buck books will it be worth it? what software do i need and how much does it cost? how much is it to take a programing class at a community collage and how old do you have to be? i saw some books in the store that were like "learn C++ in 24 hours" (one hour a day)
How much money can a Concept Artist make?
Before even thinking about money you should think about whether you enjoy concept art, modeling, ect Concept art takes a absolute ton of work and some artists still find them self having to work part time jobs while working. If you enjoy what your doing then you will have a much easier time getting to were you want to be. Full time concept artists probably make just over average income, but high level ones can make allot more. Environment artists make a pretty average wage but there job can lead up into other things. Character artists make more then environment artists but require allot more time to learn and perfect, most companies wont hire a character artists until they have some experience working on other games. Ideally if you want to go into any of these pathways you want to be enjoying doing the work more then you would enjoy playing a game as these jobs all take up more time both in and outside of work then you would find in a regular job.
