How to do these math questions?

1)around the rink is the perimeter
the perimeter of the rectangle will be (50*2)+(75*2)=250 ft
the total cost is therefore 13.50*250 = $3375

2)the area of a rectangle is length*width
for this rectangle its 50*75 = 3750 ft^2
the machine can clear 750 ft^2 per minute so the amount of lots of 750 ft^2 is
3750/750 = 5
ie it takes 5 minutes to clear the rink of ice
______________________________________...

1) find out the dimensions of the piece of wood
previously we found area=length*width
so width = area / length = 544/32 = 17
the length of the ruler is 30cm and the width is 5cm therefore we have to throw away the additional 2cm and cut the sheet to new dimensions of 17cm by 30cm
the amount of rulers that you can get out of 17cm is 17/5(the width of the ruler) = 3.4 rulers
the 0.4 of a ruler is useless and as such it must be thrown away.
the number of rulers able to be cut out is therefore 3 rulers

(the scrap leftover will be (2*30+2*17)=94cm^2

How to do these math questions?

To balance the apparatuses you need the same amount of torque on each side of the fulcrum.

For the first problem the torque on the first side is 150 kg * 3m = 450 kgm. You need the same amount of torque on the other side. So your equation is 200 kg * xm = 450 kgm. To balance this equation, divide both sides by 200 kg and you get x = 2.25m. So to balance the apparatus, you should place the 200kg object 2.25 meters from the fulcrum.

You do the same exact thing for the second problem. The torque for the first side is 12lb * 8 in. = 96 lb.in. So the second half of the scale need to have the same torque, 96 lb.in. Your equation is 18 lb * x in. = 96 lb. in. Divide both sides by 18 lb and you should get 5.33 in. So to balance this apparatus, you should place the 18 lb. 5.33 inches from the fulcrum.

The inland taipan of central australia is the world's most toxic venomous snake. Just 1 mg of its venom can kill 1000 mice. One bite contains up to 100 mg of venom. About how many mice could be killed with just one inland taipan bite?
Given:
1 mg = 1000
100 mg = m
m = number of mice killed

100/1 = m/1000
m = 100 x 1000
=====================================
Ans:::m 100,000 mice killed

A rattle snake grows a new rattle segment each time it sheds its skin Rattlesnakes shed their skin an average of 3 times per year However segments often break off. If a rattlesnake had 44 segments break off in its life time and it had 10 rattles when it died about how many years did the rattlesnake live?
Given:
segment = skin sheds
3 segment = 3 skin shed / year
Since it is not given as to how many rattles it have per year. So i will just steak to the segments.
44 segments break off is equal to the number of segment growing
b = number of rattle born per year

rattle snake life span = 44/3segment /year + number of rattle/number of rattle born per year

rattle snake life span = 14.67year +(10 rattle)/b

======================================...
Rattle Snake Life Span = 14.67 + 10/b
======================================...

All snakes shed their skin the shed skin of a snake is an average of 10% longer than the actual snake. If the shed skin of a coral snake is 27.5 inches long about how long is the coral snake?

Length of Shed = 10% longer than the actual.
S = Length of Snake.

Shed Skin x 10% + Shed Skin = Length of Shed Skin
10%S + S = 27.5
0.1S + S = 27.5
1.1S = 27.5
S = 27.5/1.1

=====================================
Ans::S = 25 inches long

Can you tell me how to do these Math questions?

Take this one step at a time.
take the 19 people that like to cook main dishes and subtract the ones that also like to bake desserts. 19-7. you get 12
to answer the next part of the question you take the 19 people who like to cook main dishes and add the 15 people who like to bake desserts. then you subtract the 7 people who were repeated. 19+15-7. you get 27. you take the total amount of people that were surveyed and subtract 27. 30-27. you get 3.

Can you tell me how to do these Math questions?

19 like to cook main dishes - 7 like to do both = 12 really like to cook main dishes

15 prefer to bake - 7 like to do both = 8 really prefer to bake

12+8 + 7= 27 people

30 people in a life class - 27 people that like to cook and bake and both = 3 people that don't like to cook and bake.

How and why do you get the answers to these math questions?

"How" : using the right methods, which, in general, are many."Why" : seriously?Because you took the time to ask, I gave a try at the 9th question :[math] \sqrt{\frac{7}{3}+\sqrt{5}}[/math] : which is of the form [math]A\sqrt{B}[/math], with A = 1 and B = [math]\frac{7}{3}+\sqrt{5}[/math].But I am inclined to follow Bjarke point of view.Edit : detail of my answer.Let a = [math]\frac{\sqrt{10}+\sqrt{2}}{\sqrt{15}-\sqrt{3}}[/math].Factorize using [math]\sqrt{10}=\sqrt{2}\sqrt{5}[/math] and [math]\sqrt{15}=\sqrt{3}\sqrt{5}[/math], and one obtains a = [math]\frac{\sqrt{2}}{\sqrt{3}}\frac{\sqrt{5}+1}{\sqrt{5}-1}[/math].Simplify the second part by multiplying numerator and denominator by numerator, and use the identity [math](a+b)(a-b)=a^2-b^2[/math], to end with a = [math]\frac{\sqrt{2}}{2\sqrt{3}}(3+\sqrt{5})[/math].Now take a to the square, leading to [math]a^2=\frac{7}{3}+\sqrt{5}[/math].Taking back the root square, my first answer.So the how would be using the properties of square roots and one peculiar identity. The why would be to identify from the question that a good way to proceed is to guess that a is a root of a quadratic polynomial.
