How To Ease Braces Pain Got Bottom Braces Yesterday And They Hurt A Lot.

Why do bottom braces hurt worse then top?

i don't know why it hurts more but i do know what shes going through because i have braces myself and the bottom hurt a lot more. I took paracetamol for the pain and had soup and porridge and other soft foods to eat. And don't worry the pain really does go away after a few days...a week at the most!
Good luck with them..

Just Got bottom braces!?

So Ive gotten my top braces already and just today I got bottom braces. AND THEY HURT A LOT. And i have school tomorow .. any idea on how to deal with the brace pain?

Which hurts more? top or bottom braces?

For me, it changes constantly... if you mean when you're getting them, then i don't remember...
but tuesday, i got them tightened and my bottom teeth hurt a lot...
normally, though, they don't hurt

Do bottom braces hurt more than top?

I remember when I got braces. Seems like such a long time ago. My orthodontist told me that the bottom would hurt more than the top - it didn't. Although, I did have a chain on the top at one point and that hurt a lot so I can imagine that it will hurt a lot on the bottom. Elastics are also kind of a pain in the *** because they keep on breaking and you have to take them out when you eat. Even if the bottoms hurt at first, the pain will subside and you will forget that you even have braces.

How much did or do braces hurt based on your personal scale of 10?

I have braces right now so I can pretty much tell you that.Placement- 0You won't feel a thing during the placement of braces. It's going to be completely painless procedure. So my answer would be zero. You might feel a little discomfort because of the presence of foreign object in your oral cavity but pain won't be there. After 5–6 hours= 8.Now you'll start feeling pain. Initially, it would be mild, let's say 5. But with time it will increase.Next 24 hours= 10.Next 24 hours are going to be the most painful hours of your whole orthodontic treatment. You won't be able to bite anything. Teeth will be extremely tender. Forget biting, even a slight touch of your tongue will cause pain. You'll be advised to take analgesic for that. You'll have to rely upon liquid diet entirely. You might even regret the decision of undergoing this treatment but trust me, it's totally worth it.After 48 hours= 8.Now you'll feel comparatively better. You can eat semisolid stuff. Teeth are less tender now. You might notice ulceration on oral mucosa because of the braces and wire. And that constant irritation causes more pain and discomfort. You’ll be advised to apply topical anesthetic get over that area. After 72 hours = 4–5.You'll be able to bite and chew with mild pain. After one week = 0–1.There won't be any pain. You'll get used to it. You won't feel any discomfort. After 20 days= 0.Only mirror and toothbrush are going to remind you that you're having braces.First wire tightening= 7–8.Pain is going to last for hardly 1–2 days. And then slowly with time, you’ll get used to it.You are never going to regret this decision, trust me. Go for it. All the best.

I've had my braces for a while, and one single tooth started hurting. What happened?

There could be a number of reasons for your tooth hurting. You may have a cavity, there might be something stuck or it could be the braces. It’s best to get your orthodontist to check it out. You may need to have an x-ray to check if it’s something more serious. Sometimes our teeth hurt just because of sensitivity, don’t stress too much until you’ve seen your orthodontist.

How can i get my braces to stop hurting?

oh gawd i know how thats like, im 13 and i got top and bottom the SAME day! lets just say my teeth were so crooked, i had an underbite AND overbite all in one mouth! so when i got mine, it hurt like hell! so, what i did, was...

EAT ICE CREAM.
POPSICLES
FREEZIES.
ETC ETC,

Stuff that is cold reacts with the metal on your braces and stops them for a while, thats why if you eat soup or something hot, it will make your mouth hurt. so eat COLD things, and it will stop the pain.:)

How to treat braces pain?

I had braces too and I still feel the pain looking back! I just had to touch a tooth for it to ache unbelievable!
everyone goes through this and its perfectly normal. The good news is that the first time you get the braces put in is the worst. It'll hurt a little whenever they get tightened but never as much as this.

The reason they hurt is because basically, you're teeth are being forced out of their position into another one.

The pain should only last for a week, two at the very most. Painkillers can take the edge off, if you're having trouble to sleep, painkillers like co-codamol can make you sleepy to deal with this problem. When I had my tonsils removed I was in a lot of pain too and I took different kinds of painkillers, i.e. ibuprofen based pills and paracetamol based ones, and I found this helped more than taking just one kind of painkiller.

When My teeth were hurting I basically kept my mind busy by thinking of other things. It sounds cliche but pain really is in the mind and while its impossible to completely ignore it, if your mind is focused on other things the pain won't get to you as much.

In the meantime, eat soft foods or whatever you can manage. You only got the braces yesterday so the pain will dull in a day or so. Just think of the reward you'll be getting - a lovely smile, and it will make it SO worth all the hassle!

Power Chain on my braces today. How to relieve pain?

Besides OTC medicines, you can't decrease the pain, your body will adjust in a few days and as each day goes by the pain will be less and less.

How long does it take for the pain to go away after getting bottom braces on?

My grandson is 11 and doing well with braces. He is sore and takes tylenol but he certainly does not complain. HE says they are a couple days...but the whole point of braces is to STRAIGHTEN TEETH and you can't do that without forcing them into place.
