Has anyone ever tried DR nights vacation resort in the Dominican Republic.......?

Where in the Dominican Republic are you going to be? This would be easy to answer your first question. For the tips, you can always tip somebody (room service) or at bar or restaurant in a resort. You must know they have a rotation system in some of them, so its possible you will have different people cleaning your room or serving you in the restaurant or bar. Have a nice time! and dont forget to discover this nice country!

Punta Cana Dominican Republic vacation?

The beaches in Punta Cana are beautiful white sand and turquoise coloured ocean. Yes you can swim there. Because the Atlantic, and the Caribbean oceans meet in this area, there is a lot of wave action. Before going in to jump waves, make sure your bathing suit is tight. People have been stripped of their bathing suits after being hit with a wave. It happened to me twice. The resorts do have an excursion and tour desks where you can arrange outings from the resorts. The longest but very interesting is the Santo Domingo tour. There is a park not to far away from the resorts that we really enjoyed, called Manati Park. http://www.manatipark.com/eng/index.htm The animals are looked after very well. There are several other excursions that you can take if your so inclined. http://www.viator.com/Punta-Cana/d794-tt... The best resort we stayed at was Excellence Punta Cana in the Club section which provides extra perks from the regular section. http://www.excellence-resorts.com/caribb... I'm sure you would enjoy this part of the D.R.

How many people in the Dominican Republic speak English?

More of the younger generation are speaking it now but older Dominicans, 40+ no. It is taught in the schools. However, although attending school is manatory the reality of the situation is that many kids don't go because their families cannot afford to buy the necessary uniforms, books and supplies. If you are going to the North coast you can help by supporting the Sosua Kids Association. Please see the link below for more information.
