How To Get Back Into Public High School After Homeschooling

Should I go to a public school or homeschool?

I can't make this decision for you, so I'm not going to pretend to.  What I am going to do is lay out the two sides of your dilemma:Public school You would be in a large group of peopleYou would have lots of class optionsBUTYou would enter school mid-semester, where it's more difficult to make friendsYou would be entering classes that may not be on the same topics as your old classes (either ahead or behind)HomeschoolYou would no longer be stuck with the same two classmatesYou would have space to study when and how you learn bestBUTIt can be pretty lonely to homeschool without joining an established groupYou may fall behind without someone personally keeping you accountable for your studiesStaying at your current schoolYou would keep your studies consistentYou get personal attention from your small school's teachers and peersBUTYou will probably hate going to school everyday You might regret staying as long as you have

Should I go back to high school or stay homeschooling?

I really need some advice, its such a hard decision.
I been going to my local school since I was in preschool. This was my first year away and I would of been a sophomore.

I am still a sophomore by the way, suppose to be Junior.

The things I don't like about homeschooling is
1. I gained weight from not being as active as I would at school (Just 10 pounds, I can loose it)
2. I lost a lot of communication skills
3. I have to submit my work by Sunday, have two extra classes than I did, so I don't have a free day.
4. I do school work till about 2pm every day then have go to work till around 7.

Bad things about public school

1. I don't focus as good with people around
2. I have anxiety mostly at school
3. Its hard for me to pass a class, because I do better by myself.

Good things about Homeschooling

1. Its individual
2. I am passing
3. Taking college classes.

Good things about public schools

1. I take JROTC
2. I am active
3. I get to talk and be socially active with friends
4. Involved in school activities.

What should I do? What is your thoughts?

Going from Homeschool to Public School? HELP!?

Hello! I'm currently a 9th grader and I've been homeschooled my entire life. I've seemingly convinced my parents to maybe let me go to a public high school for 10th grade.
I'm a little scared of the differences that there will be.

I have a few questions:
A) Homework.
- for 10th grade..is homework really rough?
- What kind of homework do you get?
B) Advice
- How to fit in (I have a few friends that go to this school, but they're older than me.)
C) What classes are there and what are the electives available usually?
- As much info as you can, please.

This is in Colorado, if that helps.

Should I go back to Public school if I'm home schooled?

I am a 15 year old girl, who is currently a freshman. I have been home schooled since the beginning of 7th grade, because of all the problems. I hated public school because my family moved around a lot, and I basically went to a different school each year, I am really shy, and quite, and have stage fright (I get really anxious and stressed when I have to do a project and present it in front of the class), I didn't really get bullied all that much, maybe just an occasional teasing about my weight problem. But Its been 2 years and I have lost 47 pounds, got taller, and now my sisters keep telling me I need to go back to high school. My mom says she doesn't like that I'm in the house all day by myself (I go to western christian academy, online school, so my parents are gone in the day time and I have online teachers) But my mom prefers me in home school because she doesn't have to worry about me on drugs, getting pregnant, peer pressure, school shootings, etc. I don't know what to do, my grades are really good, and I have a couple friends I see sometimes on the weekends (they live in a different town), I really have no interest in sports, and sure I would like a boyfriend. My sister's are really pushing me to go again, and I kind of want to, but I just remember how much I hated it before (I had to get on anti depressant medicine because of it) I am scared to go because I am afraid I'll regret it. There are pro's and con's of both homeschooling and public school, which do you think I should do?
P.S, I make really good grades in homeschool, but I also made good grades in public school.

Going to high school after being homeschooled?

wow ur story sounds exactly like mine a couple years ago. I know exactly what your going thru. I was homeschooled 7-9th grade and now im in 10th grade. I go to a public high school now, but it took a lot of thought. I have older borthers too that always presssured me into going to a public school and i finally did. Do what you feel comfortable with and what you want to do. I mean it was tough going back to a public school, but once you really get the hang of it, it gets easier. If you feel like you want that high school experience and want to go to a public school I would say do it. If you absolutely hate it just go back to homeschooling. Its not the end of the world if you dont like a public school, do what you want to do.

What’s public high school like? I’ve been homeschooled my entire life and I’m deciding if I want to switch.

Keeping in mind that I graduated almost eleven years ago, from a public school in New Jersey…My school started at 7:30 AM. Homeroom was four minutes long (enough to say the Pledge of Allegiance, hear some announcements over the loudspeaker, and take attendance, but not much else). We had four minutes to get from one class to another, which was generally long enough, even if you had to go to the other end of the building and either up- or downstairs (my school had two floors). We could carry our backpacks in the hallways, and it was usually a good idea to carry around all the morning or afternoon books at once.Classes were 55 minutes long, and we had a rotating schedule where one class would drop out of each morning and afternoon each day, with a total of six periods per day (eight classes total, possibly including one study hall where the kids who had it would sit in the lunch room and either sleep, do homework, talk about different things, or study). If the teacher was good, the class could seem interesting, even if I didn’t normally like the subject matter; otherwise… not so much. Homework was generally due the next time class met.Schools are required to have a certain number of fire drills per month, and sometimes (rarely, in my experience) the alarms are set off by actual fires, usually in the science rooms. When that happens, follow the class out to the nearest exit and wait for someone to tell you to go back in. I’m sure they’d tell you what to do in case of a lockdown drill or other emergency.Going to the bathroom during class was generally discouraged unless it was an emergency, but no one cared too much if kids went before class or during lunch.

How do you bounce back into high school from being homeschooled for 2 years?

What do you mean “bounce back”?Are you worried about your academic standing? Don’t assume that your home school education was at an inferior level. If you were part of a curricular program e.g., k12) you are probably up-to-speed. Are you worried about your social standing? Don’t be. High school is composed of cliques. The majority of which you could never fit into. Most of the rest you would not want to fit into. There are a few of the remaining that you can make a successful effort to fit into. Find those friendly individuals within that last group. Here’s another perspective. Don’t think that the only alternative to homeschooling is going back to a big, traditional, comprehensive public high school. There are other options:magnet public high school tailored to your interestssmaller, charter public high schoolprivate high schoolonline public high schoolget a GED and go on to collegeWhich of these is best for you depends upon how good the other options are in your area. Just remember, you don’t HAVE to go to a traditional public high school to be successful in life. In the past, most successful people have gone to public high schools, but that is not what caused them to be successful.

Should I go to public school or stay homeschooled?

Public school definitely

Look kid, once you go to high school next year, things will change. It'll be easier with the "popular girls". Also, since you're not getting a social life, I would go with public.

There are more pros than cons

Why you should not be homschooled

NO MOTIVATION: BAD! You need to be motivated and that's what teachers are for

NO SOCIALIZING: NO-NO! You need to socialize and have friends or you're going to be lonely and ever MORE less-motivated. I have been in this situation before. I have been homeschooled for 5 yrs, no socializing, just sat at home and I wasn't motivated.

Plus just ignore the popular girls.

Plus, people will like you for who you are! Scene doesn't mean posing!

Since you hate homeschooling, go back to school!

Being original and being scene is fun!

Going to high school after being homeschooled for 3 years?

so I started homeschooling in the middle of 6th grade because I absolutely hated the middle school experience. there was so much drama and the girls were so mean and the people in my classes were seriously out of control. I just finished 8th grade this year and my parents, family, and friends want me to go back go school next year for high school. the school where I live is like huge and there's so many kids that go there because there's just one highschool in our area. I talked to one of my friends who goes there and is going into her senior year and she said that if you don't know anyone, you don't really talk to anyone because everyone already has their groups from middle school. it's not like I'm too worried about that because I make friends pretty easily and I'm not really a shy person! and I loved being homeschooled but sometimes I just feel like I want something more. especially more friends because I don't have many friends my age! I have a few close fiends but I wanna have a ton of friends like I used to when I went to public school. so I don't really know what to do because I have no idea if I'm gonna be comfortable! I have until August, 1 to decide and school starts August 26 or something. but my parents are supportive of either decision so it's completely up to me. helllppp
