How do I clean burnt sugar off a wood floor?

I was making flan; long story short, when I poured the caramel into the pyrex dish, it cracked, and the bottom fell out onto my wooden floor, creating a crater of burnt sugar and broken glass. How on earth do I clean this up?

How To Clean Burnt 'Spun Sugar' Out Of A Pan And Whisk!?!?

>Now that is a tough one. I would use boiling hot water to try and loosen the burned sugar and then try using some white distilled vinegar. Boil the vinegar and water for about 15 minutes. You might want to try adding a few drops of your dishwashing liquid soap and keep an eye on it so it doesn't foam too bad. Turn the heat off and let the whisk and the pan sit for an hour in the hot water/vinegar/soap mixture. If this does not dissolve the burned sugar, this should loosen it sufficently to easily scrape it away with a nylon type scrubber.

How do i get burnt sugar off a glass top stove?

you can get any food product with a mixture of baking soda and water. let it fizz, it won't cause any pitting on the glass and all you have to do is rub in small circles when the fizzing dies down. the baking soda acts as a mild abrasive without harming the glass.

i do it all the time on mine

How can I clean a glass container with burnt sugar residues?

The sugar definitely went through a chemical reaction so water based cleaning will be futile. I would say the sugar is black because the hydroxide (OH) groups have been oxidized leaving you with a mostly hydrophobic glob of poo. Try WD-40 or an OTC cleaner known as goo-b-gone (citrus variant). You could also try scraping and applying heat after the solvents have evaporated. I would repeat this method if it seems to work. Good luck!
