Do gnats and fruit flies eat dogfood?

No.

How to get rid of gnats/fruit flies?

My guinea pigs cage was attracting these little black flying bugs that would sit on her cage and go in her cage. I just noticed how bad they were yesterday so today I completly cleaned out her cage, washed all her food and water bowls, and gave her a bath. I found that they were hiding underneath her water bottle so I am guessing that the damp bedding was attracting them. Now her cage is out of my room and they are still in here! I dont have any food in here. And I vacuumed every inch of my room, dusted, wiped up any sticky spot from soda, and got rid of half empty soda cans. Then I lifted up my blanket on my bed I just got like 2 days ago, and they are hiding under my blanket! there were about 3 of them in there. So I flipped my matress and shook all my blankets and pillows out. I dont know what to do next. There are still some sitting o my walls and some of them are so tiny you cant even see them until they land on you or on the wall. My mom is taking me to get some spray or something tomorrow but how do I try and get rid of them? Should I spray perfume or something? Do I just have to wait until they get hungry and leave? HELP! I AM VERY AFRAID OF INSECTS! I cant sleep in here tonight!!!

How to get rid of little tiny gnats or fruit flies!!?

fruit flies will be a reddish color for the most part, their maggots feed off of yeast found in fermenting fruit, gnats will be very small sometimes tiny depending on the species, a dark color to grey, their maggots develop in wet areas such as a house plant with wet soil, areas around the tub where the caulking is allowing to get the inside of the wall wet, leaky pipes...there are other common small flies that can be found around rotting potatoes or onions, these will be darker in color..the way to get rid of them is figure where they are coming from and address it, usually no insecticide is needed

Difference between gnats & fruit flies?

One or the other of those #$^%&*! things is driving me crazy right now!

Do you hit fruit flies or gnats with your hands when you see them in your house?

Fruit flies just seem to come mysteriously , when you have fruits or vegetables that are getting old or broken . It's nature .You have to just clean out everything . And wash everything they touched .Go into your cabinets , and throw out everthing . Even dried pasta can be a food source for the little bugs . I don't they will really hurt you , but yuk .So, I don't hit them , because that doesn't get to the source .

I have had fruit flies or gnats in the house for over a month now. How do I get rid of them?

Jenn is right. They are either shore flies or fungus gnats and they are a result of overwatering plants. But you don't want to water every day like she said. Let the soil dry completely out between waterings. The larvae in the soil need the water to live and the plant can stand drying out better than the larvae can. Let it dry comepletely out for 3 or 4 times and it should kill all the larvae.

For the adults you may want to use a bug bomb because these pests do not stay near or on the plant--they can be everywhere. So bug bomb is your best bet. So doing these 2 things should eliminate your problem.

In the future then, water your plants when the top one inch of soil is dry. More often than that and you risk them coming back. Also never let water stand in the saucer if you have saucers under the pots.

God Damn Gnats or Fruit Flies just wont go away!!!! How do I get rid of them?

If they are coming back, then they are getting food somewhere....Make sure that every fruit, vegetable, etc are covered. Make sure all waste is removed from the house. Also check your pantry to make sure they haven't gotten into your foodstuffs there.
