How to reboot Windows 7 back to factory settings without disc?

Try this one first, if it doesn't fix it try the next ones...
1. Reboot, and repeatedly press F10 at the HP logo until the recovery screen appears.
2. When the recovery screen appears, press "Next" and then "Yes" to perform a non-destructive recovery (all data saved). After the recovery is finished, the laptop will reboot.

Or to perform a destructive recovery, (***This will erase all your unsaved data!***)
Click "Advanced" and then "Yes".
After the recovery is finished, the laptop will reboot.

Or
Reboot, and repeatedly press F11. Follow on screen prompts.

Or
Click Start>All Programs>Recovery Manager>Recovery Manager.
Click continue if prompted.
Click System recovery.
When the PC restarts, select the System recovery option and click Next.

If prompted to use the Microsoft System Restore program, click No, then Next.
If you want to backup your personal files and settings, select Back up your files first (recommended) option, then click Next.
Follow the on-screen instructions.

When prompted to Recover without backing up your files, STOP before clicking Next.
This is the final opportunity to change your mind about recovering the PC and deleting all the files and programs.

Once you click Next, the restore process cannot be stopped.
The PC immediately begins formatting.

Hp Pavilion dv6 question?

First thing is to run diagnostic on it. When you press the power button start tapping the ESC key and the BIOS menu will open. Select diagnostics if you have one and test everything to find any errors. If the hard drive fails you're going to have to get a new one and order the recovery DVD from the manufacturer. If everything passes, it sounds like the OS is corrupted. If you have a system repair CD or a Windows install DVD, boot from the DVD/CD and run repair from it. You will have to access the boot device options in the BIOS to make it boot from the DVD/CD. If you do not have a system repair CD you can make one from a puter that has the same OS as yours. If that does not fix it then your probably going to have to reload your OS to get back up and running. You will need to recover your data and files before doing that. If you wish to try to recover your files go to the link below and read on how to download and use a Linux Live CD to boot the system to recover what you want. If you have a Windows 8 puter then you need to turn off secure boot before using the CD. The Live CD will also allow you to check out the rest of the puter.

Once you have recovered what you need you can reload your OS. When you press the power button start tapping the ESC key that is for your puter and the BIOS menu will open, select the recovery mode. This will reset your puter back to factory settings.

This is what a BIOS menu will looks like. Yours might be different, I am posting this one to give you an idea of what to look for.

F1 = System Info

F2 = System Diagnostic

F9 = Boot Device options

F10 = BIOS Setup

F11 = System recovery

Should I factory reset my HP laptop?

Edit: If you got around a $100 dollars you can spare go out and get a external hard drive. Western Digital and Seagate are the one I like. You can get them at Wal Mart, Target, or Best Buy. The advantage of this is they are always in YOUR possession. The link below will give you an idea of what your looking for.

If you want to use an online service, Drop Box is a good one.

If you can still do a factory reset it will fix the problem. The problem you might experience is that M$ deleted your recovery partition. It is my opinion that M$ deletes the recovery partition to keep people from going back to their old OS. I guess if you write as many bad OSes as they do you got to find a way to make it look like everyone likes it. Keep in mind if the recovery partition is there and you use it then all data will be lost. You should back up anything you want to keep.
