I keep getting a hidden sender address text on my phone?
Hi there, I have the same issue. From my experience, I get this message when someone tries to send me a MMS message, and does not download successfully. And I do get this message a lot, its frustrating. Once I get this message, I won't be able to retrieve what my friend sent me. At first I thought this might be a network issue (since you would have to use your network's data connection to retrieve/download MMS messages) but now I believe this might be an Android OS issue. I have sent a bug report on Google which can be found here: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=14512 Do me a favor and click on the star -- this means you are also having the same problem. More stars we get the more chance that Google will take a look into it. I have a Nexus One with Froyo btw.

You've gotten a lot of advice, most of it incomplete (that is, it won't fully clean out your infection). You have at least some spyware embedded in your registry (startup), which is why routine scans cannot clean it out entirely. McAfee antivirus (it is antivirus you have?), Spybot and Ad Aware should be sufficient to clean out your infection. Update all three. Turn off system restore (right-click My Computer, choose Properties, then System Restore tab) and restart in safe mode (F8 while restarting). Then run full-system scans, spyware and virus. Restart your computer. Turn System Restore back on (same sequence as for turning it off, but now click to enable it or turn it on). Now create a new system restore point--don't bother doing it until you have scanned your computer in safe mode with system restore off. Click Start, All programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore and create a restore point. Now you can and should clean out the other kinds of stuff--use disk cleaner (or Ccleaner or some other disk cleaning product) and clean the registry (I use Ccleaner for this; "issues" and make sure you do create a backup of the registry changes before fixing registry problems just in case).

Exploitation is possible, but it requires extensive knowledge of the Android system and it's inner workings and libraries. You can also take advantage of social engineering to convince someone to install a malicious app that will open a back door. You can use a tool called Metasploit to generate an Android app file (.apk) that will open up a back door for remote command execution. However, android displays several warnings for third party apps not from the Play store. It also scans apps for well known vulnerabilities and will warn the user if it is a malicious app. It is pretty much mandatory, at this point, to have physical access to the device to install a backdoor app. Also, it isn't recommended to use this advice for nefarious intentions!
