If you don't have any voicemails you haven't listened to already, try the following.Access Settings > Applications > Application Manager, find Voicemail in the list. Force Stop the app, select Storage, and Clear Data.This will reset the app.If you have voicemails you haven't listened to, just listen to them.You can also simply turn notifications for the app off after selecting Voicemail in the Application Manager. Meaning if I call it will my phone ring to the person I'm calling and my voicemail pick up? Or will it just say that my phone is no onger in service? Basically it all depend on sim carrier and services active on it, if voicemail is enable for unreachable calls, it'll be redirected to your voicemail box.

I really don't think you can, some systems have hints or personal questions you set up ahead of time in case you forget you password. But either way he's going to know that you were looking through his account. You don't have to join him in being sneaky or acting suspicious. IPhone 4S voicemail set-up trouble? (Sprint)?
I was having the same issue and then I called Sprint and re-set my network and that didn't work. She then transferred me to a "specialist" that was able to get it working for me after we shut down my phone and re-set the voicemail settings on the phone (done on Sprints networks). Now my voicemail is working just fine. Hope this helps
