How To Test An Idler Arm

2006 Chrysler Pt Cruiser steering wheel shakes..?

Hello, I just bought a 2006 PT Cruiser and when I test drove it, everything was fine... Now that i have had it for a day.. I noticed that going around 60+ MPH the steering wheel shakes..
I've read up on some forums that it could be a number of problems...
1. Wheel not center on hub (centering rings may help)
2.. Warped rotor
3. Loose front end parts
4. Worn ball joints
5. Worn pitman & Idler arms
6. Worn die rod ends
7. Worn wheel bearings
8. Worn CV joints

My question is... whats the worst case scenario and what would be the range of the repair cost?

Hit a curb and now car vibrates badly?

I have a 2006 Infiniti G35. So I hit a curb going pretty fast. I messed up both passenger wheels, I got my new wheels today. I got 4 different new ones, so I took my old tires because they were still good, and the tire shop put the tires on the wheels and balanced them. I brought them home and put them on. I take it the car first thing in the morning to get the other two put on, aligned, and all that good stuff.

Well after putting the wheels on I drove the car to see if it drove okay. No, it doesn't. I couldn't even get it passed 55 because it shook so bad. You can barely even keep it on the road. I'm thinking control arm, but I am not really sure. I'm getting it checked in the morning, hopefully the tire shop will find whats wrong with it. But what do you guys think it is?

How to adjust steering gear on 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Replace the center link as I think that's what you mean IF the idler arm, tie-rod ends are in otherwise perfect shape. Them move on to the steering box.

You will find an internal Allan key opening dead center over the pitman arm on top of the steering box with a hex jam nut on the outside. Loosen the hex jam nut and turn the the hex clockwise 1/4 of a turn with an Allan wench. To test how you're doing with the adjustment turn the steering shaft by hand to the right and left while watching the pitman arm for instant movement. If by turning the steering shaft and you still notice no movement of the pitman arm twist the Allan key another 1/4 of a turn clockwise or as much as you need to get the slack out. Remember that by tightening the top hex jam nut you will have altered the slack so be careful with your adjustments. The steering column can't be locked while you do this.

Honda Pilot - Why does my steering wheel shake at low speeds?

2005 Honda Pilot, 4-wheel drive. The steering wheel shakes starting at about 20 mph and stopping at about 35 mph (with my hands off the wheel, it has a rotational shake of about 1/4”, not up and down, in or out, or vibrating). I took it to a shop specializing in brakes and suspension systems – they diagnosed it as out-of-round tires on both front wheels. Next stop was my tire shop – they pulled the wheels, and ran a dynamic balance test to measure the balance and the forces against a spindle to check for roundness and the possibility of a broken belt. Both front tires tested fine, but one was ΒΌ ounce out of balance. They also moved the rear tires to the front.

When I drove home, the problem was still there.

How do i replace the starter in my 1995 nissan pathfinder???

the way I do it is:
disconnect battery
remove front splash shield
unbolt 3 bolts on idler arm (usally 17 or 19 mm bolts)and lower out of the way
unplug oil switch (no need to remove switch or filter)
un bolt 2 14mm starter bolts (come in through back of trans)
slide starter out with wiring attached out through front with idler out of the way
swap batt feed 12mm nut and 1 plug connecteor
reassemble

My record player fluctuates in speed and pitch, not too harshly but enough to alter the pitch by a semitone. Would a voltage regulated outlet help fix this?

What kind of turntable do you have?Is it belt drive then the belt could be slippingIs it similar to a Panasonic PL71 that has speed adjust that after many years the potentiometers need a spray of contact cleaner which will make fluctuations go away.On other direct drive turntables there might be a connector that needs to be pulled out and pushed back in to clean the contacts a bit. That causes fluctuations as well.Another thing you can do is reverse the polarity on the A/C plug. Yes am aware about A/C means alternating current however just try it and see if that problem gets better or worse. This also helps with all audio components and you will find 50% of them sound better when you change the polarity on the A/C plug.Praise I AM, Michael Idarecis
