How To Track An Uknow Phone Number And How To Prank The Caller

Is it illegal to prank call a 1-800 number?! Need Help!?

Me and a group of friends, like to joke around and have fun calling this insurance company. We *67 each call, can they TRACK us?
We pretend to be black people asking for insurance, nothing bad, right? We do not threaten them in any way.

When we call, it's a different person that picks up every time so it never gets boring!
Last time we called, a lady said she will call the police if we continue to call the number. Was she bluffing? What's the worst the police can do? Can we call other companies if one becomes "upset" with us?

Any "tips" or "ideas" for the future? ;)

Thanks in Advance!

How can you trace an unknown name and number call?

No way to trace an unknown name/number. If the calls are harassing, you can call the phone company and report it. In my area, you can hit star 57 after the call, and it goes to the proper authorities, and they'll take it from there. They don't tell you who the caller is, tho.

How can I trace prank calls?

If you're having trouble with prank calls, you can ask your phone company to set up a trace on your account. They’ll be able to unmask any blocked numbers for you. From there you can use any number of online reverse number lookups, some of which may charge you a couple of bucks to find out who’s calling.

Would The Police Trace You For A Prank Call?

The cops don't have to trace prank calls any more. Most businesses have Caller ID, and won't even pick up the phone for a blocked number.

And it's not the cops you have to worry about. It's the phone companies. They can and will prosecute prank callers. They did it even back in MY teen years, and that was in the 70s, when they had to pay to trace calls. Some teens did it a lot, and then when it all caught up with them, their parents had to pay some pretty big fines.

HOW do you TRACE SOMEONE when they PRANK CALL with a BLOCKED NUMBER?

Ok, as you know, you cannot use the *69 on a blocked telephone number. What you CAN do is subscribe to what is called "ANONYMOUS CALL REJECTION". This service will not allow anyone who blocks their number by dialing *67 first to be able to ring your phone. They will receive a message that states that you do no accept blocked/private calls and to hang up and unblock their number and call again. This also works for people who have a permanent block on their private number in place. In other words, some people have private/unlisted numbers (like doctors) and every call they make goes through as a private caller with no name or number information. That is called "line blocking" but people also can do a "per call block" which is when they use *67 before dialing your number. The result is the same. The caller's identifying information does not show up. SO, the anonymous call rejection will work wonders for you. They will not be able to call you unless they UNBLOCK their number....so they probably won't call you at that point because they won't want you to know who they are and to have their number. It's a great feature to have and I would highly suggest subscribing to it today!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

Can a police trace an unknown call?

They can get a search warrant and contact the phone company and possibly get the information. They themselves cannot do it and the phone company will not just hand over that info. But with proper court paperwork it is possible to gain some information on where it came from.

How do I find out the real phone number to a fake phone number?

Depends what you mean by fake. All sip devices are able to issue any desired callerid but legally numbers need to be used in accordance with regulations. It is possible to find out the originating device used for making the call.In the case of mobile phones new services like Riphub allow users to legally change the callerid to suit but again the call can be traced back to the underlying mobile device used if necessary.Changing numbers is very useful for all sorts of legitimate reasons and will become more prolific over the coming months.

How should women in India deal with calls from unknown numbers?

I get such calls (and so do my mother and my girlfriends and every human with XY chromosomes to ever have a phone) pretty often.I am a very impatient lass, so as soon as I pick up, I bombard them with “Hello, kaun?” a million times. Then, as is obvious, they ask me to tell my name and my city, and mention how they covet to talk to Chintu/Rani/Premlata yada yada yada. (Your peanut-sized couldn’t come up with better names, could it?)Anyway, I do have Truecaller, but there’s always a possibility that the person at hand may be an acquaintance I’ve forgotten about. (My childhood bestfriend once called me, and I asked her to go fuck herself because I though it was a prank.)So, after a few phone calls, once it becomes evident that the caller is just some pervert with his testosterone doing Salsa because he hit a jackpot by finding a girl’s number, I answer his call and keep the phone aside as he hollers on and drains his balance. (Once, when I did the aforementioned, a guy spent 71 minutes singing all the retarted songs of Honey Singh. With the remark, “Baby, aawaz sunke behosh ho gayi kya?” at the end. Honey Singh, seriously?)Alas, I strike him with my checkmate move.I do not badmouth people, however, the fact stands that I am a profanity-dictionary and can unleash a fucking storm with my slangs and destroy a person’s self-esteem to the very core, when necessary. In three languages. (C’mon, I am only human and recapitulating my darker side every once in a while is fun!)So, the next time he calls, I present him with a downpour of insult that he won’t forget till his last breathe, berate his very existence, and make him regret that he ever touched a cellphone. I introduce him to trilingual-slangs he wouldn’t get to hear in a lifetime if not for me, and in the end, hang up after informing him that I have filed an FIR against him. (A touch of drama, ‘cos why not?)I begin with “Abbe oh BKL!” and end with, “They are coming for you; may God bless you.”Then, after I’m done, I swoop over to Truecaller, and block the asshole, as I await my next victim. *Evil laughter*
