You tubes settings are so that when you upload a large bandwith file it is automatically compressed loosing a lot of clarity. This is mainly because You Tube would like to keep it's bandwidth usage down so that the most people can upload and watch videos. This can be a good thing if you have something worth watching and someone is willing to pay you for the original HD copy. This can be terrible if You tube is your only outlet for video uploads. I will point out that I've begun uploading at those settings recently and only sometimes does it give the 'Watch this video in High Quality' link under it by default (without the &fmt=18 trick to see it in HQ*), and yet two other videos of mine that I uploaded as .wmv format and 320x240 (and only those two out of the dozens and dozens of others the same way) now have that option by default. The only thing that makes them any different is they were both linked up/embedded by really popular websites and were featured briefly on YouTube's page and they got over 100,000 views eventually, so popularity seems to have made more of a difference than what format/settings I uploaded it at. Go figure. I don't know that there's anything you can do that will make sure Youtube will add the High Quality option to everyone on your videos yet. It seems to be in the beta stage, but I have begun uploading at their recommended settings in any case. * You can, by adding &fmt=18 to the end of a YouTube url, watch most every video in high quality. &fmt=18 It works. I can even download the High Quality version of the videos with Video DownloadHelper and sometimes the HQ version is still in .flv and sometimes the HQ version is an MP4 format, but both HQ versions are at a higher bit rate and stereo @ 44 KHz as opposed to mono 22 KHz like normal without the &fmt=18 trick. wat he said is kinda rite but still thing is wat cam r u using to rec ur video (if ur uploading ur own vid that is) try to upload them in mpeg format or mov format this gives a good HD quality. i do that it works gret for me... hope it does to u too.... my suggestion is not to use web cam to rec ur vids if ur recding ur own vid... i dont have any camcorder or something i rec it throu my basic model digi cam (sony DSC W35) its vid quality is great thou if the light ing is good... but if ur trying to upload any existing vid u ve(songs stuffs like that) upload them in the same format it already is. that should help u...
