I Am Confused With Airlines And Airports

Picking up pet from BWI airport, little confused?

I am scheduled to pick up my puppy from bwi later this week. He will be flown on delta airlines.
I am suppose to get him at
Cargo Warehouse
North Air Cargo
Building D door 9 at BWI.

My question is where would the warehouse be? Would it be completely separate from the airport or can i just go into the regular terminal to find that warehouse.
I know NOTHING about airports and hoping for some help ;)

What to do when you get to the airport? Confused!!!?

1. Go to the counter and check in. Normally there's going to be self check ins (There's a screen). Or you might have to talk to the person at the counter. They will ask you for your name, passport, some identification if you're over the age of 18, and how many bags you are bringing with you. Then, they will take your bags.

2. After checking in, go to the security check. Sometimes you have to show your ticket, passport and an I.D. before going inside. (Or they would check when you are passing through the detector.) After that, put all your belongings in the tray. Make sure you don't have any metals on you so like belts. Earrings are fine. I wear them all the time. And make sure you take out any electronics and any liquids (Liquids needs to be inside a quart sized plastic bag for them to see! Take your shoes off and the person will ask you to walk through the metal detector.

3. After the security check, look at your ticket and find the gate number. If you look at the ceiling, there would be signs like G50-G70 or whatever. Go and find your gate. If you can't find it, ask an attendant.

4. After finding your gate, you're free to do anything! If you have to wait for a long time, you could do some shopping if you're in a big airport, or go and eat. If you don't have time, stay at your gate and wait.

5. After flying, get out and find your luggage section. This is a tough one for me, so if you don't know where to pick up your luggage, ask the flight attendant in the airplane where you're supposed to pick up the luggage. Normally, there will be signs at every luggage sections like SFO to LA or something like that. Every airlines are different.

6 After getting your luggage, find the exit and you're done!

EDIT: You give the ticket to the person when going on the airplane. There's a secuirty thing where they take your ticket and scan it to make sure it's real. And then they will give it back to you. After that, you don't need the ticket anymore so you can throw it away.

Are airports confusing and scary?

Before you land in LA, you will be asked to fill out a customs declaration form (very simple, see this page for information on the whole "coming to the US" process: http://cbp.gov/linkhandler/cgov/newsroom... )

When you deplane, the only place you can go is to the immigration line. There is no other way to exit from the gate area - so don't worry. Follow the signs for non-US citizens. You show your passport to the immigration officer, and they ask you question like: How long will you be in the country? Why are you coming to America? See the above link to find information on documents that you might need.

After immigration, you go to the customs hall. All of the baggage from the flight will be present. If you have checked baggage, pick up yours, then see a customs inspector. They may or may not want to look through your baggage. Most people just go through with only a minimal look from the customs people.

Before you leave the customs hall, or right outside, will be a place for you to put any checked bags so they can be loaded back onto your next flight.

IF you are confused about what to do, ask an airport employee or one of the agents in the customs hall.

After you have left your checked luggage, then you need to get to the gate for your next flight. Your boarding passes should say where that is.

This is a page for the LA airport that will give you access to maps of the terminals and information on the airlines that fly from each. You will be arriving at the International terminal.
http://www.lawa.org/welcome_LAX.aspx?id=...

There is a shuttle bus between terminals ( http://www.lawa.org/welcome_lax.aspx?id=... ). Get on one of those to go to the next terminal you need. You will need to go through the security check point again, then find the gate. There will be many signs for concourses and gates, and there will be TV monitors at frequent intervals that show all the departing flights. You should check those to make sure that the gate has not changed.

It is actually hard to get lost, since there are so many signs. IF you are uncertain, then ask someone at a ticket desk or other uniformed employee.

Good luck. I hope you enjoy your stay.

What is the most confusing airport in the world (may be based on your experience)?

That would be Indira Gandhi airport in Delhi.I’m transiting between a Jet Airways flight from Kathmandu to a Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong. I get off the arriving flight and walk the better part of a kilometer before getting to the transit area entrance. There I am told that despite having a multiple entry Indian visa, I cannot go into the transit area because I have been to India within the last two months. To get an exception, I must queue up at the desk off to the side. I pick the shorter line and after 15 minutes get told I was in the wrong queue. I must start over at the end of the longer line. A half hour later I reach the front of the line and give my connecting flight number. They tell me I must wait for a Cathay Pacific representative to escort me through the security check. After about 10 minutes some guy from the airline escorts me through security and to their lounge.I hear those folks learned bureaucracy from the British during 89 years of occupation. Seems they learned the lesson well. Don’t get me started on Heathrow or Gatwick.

STO or ARN? Stockholm airport code confuse me?

Stockholm-Arlanda
City/Region: Stockholm
Airport Code: STO
Full Airport Name: Stockholm-Arlanda International Airport
Location: The airport is situated 28 miles (45km) north of Stockholm.

ARN is also used for the same airport, that's why it's confusing, it ought to be one or the other, right?

What do US major airports do during the 1-2 am before daylight saving time ends? How do airlines, airports notify passengers and label flights with take-off time between 1-2am, in order to avoid confusion?

Cathay Pacific has a flight departing Vancouver to Hong Kong at 2.10am during the summer. The day the time is supposed to change, I have routinely seen them re-schedule the flight to 3.10am.

Is a foreign airport confusing for someone who has never traveled before? What are somethings I should keep in mind during my flight changes?

There is a lot of good advice in these answers. I have a couple of things to add. English is the language of aviation. Pilots of all nations and air traffic controllers in all countries communicate in English. This carries over to the signs in terminals- BUT sometimes this causes confusion. The airports in Paris have many signs that say “Correspondence” which you might think means a place to mail letters… but it is really the French word for what Americans call connecting flights, or transit. Beware of this type mistake.Another problem is city names- what I call Vienna is called Wien in Europe. Prague is Praha, Lisboa, and so on. This can make finding your connecting flight (or train) difficult.I believe the most challenging part of international travel is getting to/from the airport. Do your research to avoid wasting a lot of time and money on this. Europe and Asia generally have much better airport transportation than the US, but not always. London is especially expensive unless you know about the subway (tube) station. There is one station for people in the know. It has no signs directing you to it because they want travelers to use the much more expensive express train. Sydney charges three times as much for travel to the airport as to the stations just before or after the airport (on the same line), although there is nothing you can do about this unless you are very familiar with the area.

Is the vancouver airport confusing?

You go through customs when you arrive in the country you're going to. You will be handed a little form to fill out while on the plane. When you get off the airplane you'll pick up your luggage, then get in a line-up(don't worry, you won't get lost, everyone else off the plane will be doing the same), hand the little form over to the customs officer, answer a few questions, and that should be it unless there's something they don't like about the answers you give.

Vancouver airport is only mildly confusing. It isn't a really big airport. I've seen better and I've seen worse. Arriving at it is simpler than leaving. Count on an hour from the time you get off the plane till you're out of the place; maybe less, maybe more, depends on how busy it is at customs.

Have a good time. You've picked a good season to visit Vancouver. I've heard the weather is supposed to be dry until well into August.

First time traveling alone, scared im gonna get lost at airport!!?

You have nothing to worry about as far as LAX airport is concerned. The question is, how long is the lay-over? also are you changing terminals? you will be fine, LAX is a great airport to be in. I am not sure if you need a transit visa for the US, so please make sure that you do not need a transit visa, to pass through the US, and make sure you get it if they need it. Most airlines don't need it if you are continuing to a third country within 24 hours. Just make sure to ask the gate agents about the gate/terminal for your connecting flight, because you will be clearing customs/immigrations in the US. Have lots of fun!!!!!
