I Am Looking To Finance A New 2014 Toyota Rav4 Awd Limited With Technology Package. Any Idea Of How

I can't decide which car to buy, a 2017 Honda CR-V, or a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek Premium?

MSRP on the Honda is about $2000 more than the Subaru, but there are a lot more Honda dealers so there is a lot more price competition. Note: this is for an all-wheel-drive CR_V; if you live somewhere where AWD is of no value, you can get the CRV with front wheel drive only. It’s $1300 less, and fuel economy goes up 1 MPG.CRV has a larger engine with more HP [184] and torque [180] than the Subaru [148 / 145]. Both come with CVT automatics [ugh!] although the Subie can be had with a 6 speed manual if that’s your thing. The CRV is about 3 inches wider, with 5 inches more legroom in the rear. With the rear seat up, CRV cargo space is 39.2 to Subaru 22.3; with the rear seat down, it’s 75.8 to 51.9.Subaru is working to recover from a bad reputation its prior models earned for head gasket failures and timing chain issues because its flat-four layout necessitates long chains and multiple support rollers. Thankfully it no longer uses a timing belt which caused catastrophic failures. It’s almost not a fair comparison, because the Crosstrek is not really the model competitor to the CR-V; that would be the Forester or Outback’s job. If I could only choose between the two I would go with the Honda because I consider the Subaru under-powered and undersized. However, since I detest CVT transmissions I would be much more likely to go with a Mazda CX-5. My daughter has issues with her knees and hips and found the Jeep Cherokee much more comfortable. Here’s a comparison:Note that if you want advanced tech on the Honda you have to go to an EX trim which forces you to take the turbo engine.

What does the Auto LSD on my rav4 do? When should I use it?

I've been wondering this for awhile, what does the Auto LSD on my Toyota Rav4 2008 do, and when should I use it? I checked the owner's manual, there is nothing in there about it, and the dealer didn't know what it did either.

Chevy Equinox or Honda CRV?

A bit of a ramble here. Sorry about it. I have broken it up into sections to make it easier to read.

I am looking for a small SUV. I am getting older and I need a higher seat for easy entry and exit. I am only looking at vehicles built in the USA or Canada. This would likely be my retirement vehicle.

I am not decided between new and a 1 or 2 year old lease return vehicle.

I have eliminated the Escape as I have a 2004 Focus and while I am OK with it the mileage has been disappointing (22 MPG average) and the reliability has been poorer than I would like. In 112,000 miles it is on its 5th alternator. There have been a good many other things as well.

I am very happy with the mileage my daughter gets with her 2005 Chevy Cavalier and it has been quite reliable.

This led me to the Equinox. A 4 cylinder with 2WD. However, online I see all kinds of people who have had engine issues, especially the 2010 and 2011. Serious issues, The Equinox shows a medium frequency of repairs compared to the CRV which has a far lower repair rate..

My son in law has a Canadian built 2010 Civic and in his 100,000 mile son it, it has been very reliable. I feel bit like a traitor looking at a Japanese brand vehicle even though it is built in Canada with 60% US/Canadian content. Compared to the Equinox with 65%. Though I did have a Miata for a couple years and it only had one issue in the 3 years I owned it.

Anyone out there have any opinions other than blind loyalty to a brand??

What cars are better, Kia or Hyundai?

As others have noted, Kia and Hyundai are different brands of the same manufacturer (Hyundai) and are generally quite similar on the inside (engine/mechanical/electronic) with sometimes extensive external stylistic differences. That being said, Hyundai, which some 25 years ago was very poorly regarded, is now a very well-rated and popular economy-range brand. Kia is basically, as another answer noted, a slightly cheaper version of Hyundai and is still regarded by some as somewhat of a work in progress. I’ve been driving a 2016 Accent sedan for just about a year now and it’s been virtually trouble-free except for a couple of foreign-object-damage incidents with the tires (which isn’t Hyundai’s fault anyway).

What is better, Lexus or BMW?

What do you mean by “better?”The two makes are not really competing for the same customers. And it also depends on the model. The smaller, 3-series and 4-series BMWs are sportier while big Bimmers (the 5, 6 and 7 series cars) are the more luxurious ones, but still have a the go-fast genes that BMW owners like and are willing to pay for. That is comfort at 100–140 mph, which is hard to use in the US.In general, Bimmers are more fun to drive and appeal to people who want a “driver’s car” and want the firmer ride and sharper handling, while Lexus owners want quiet and some luxury—they’re less inclined to push the cars as hard. But then there is the BMW M-Class cars that are for the hard-core driving enthusiast. Those are a lot of fun, but bring money!Lexus (like their parent Toyota) tend to be more benign and less edgy than a BMW and are generally more reliable. Both makes last a long time if well maintained. BMWs, like all high-end Euro cars, tend to be high-maintenance machines and are more prone to having various pieces fail will cost more over time. Lexus cars tend to be more reliable overall.Meanwhile, you can take a Lexus, put on high-performance tires, firmer shocks and maybe “chip” the computer for more power, and have a lot of fun. Still, in the real world most performance metrics don’t matter because you really can’t use all of any car’s capability on public roads. For that you need a track and a BMW will have an advantage there. But does it really matter?Which is better for you? (excluding any need you have to impress others)

How many axles are there in a vehicle?

That depends totally on what kind of vehicle and what purpose it is intended to fulfill. Cars generally have two pairs of axles, front and rear unless of course it is a three wheel vehicle then there would likely only be three. Other vehicles can have multiple axles, that is a function of how many tires or wheels the vehicle has.

What are the best cars to buy in Dubai?

Though you may find a large pool of cars to pick from within your budget - I'd strongly recommend buying a slightly used Toyota (i.e. Yaris, Corolla, Camry, Land Cruiser - depending upon your budget) considering the volatility and dynamics of expat workforce in UAE. Typically cars in UAE depreciate in value by around 20% - 30% each year. For example, if you buy a Honda for AED 75,000 today, you'd hardly get around AED 35K - 38K back when you decide to sell it away in three years from now  (provided you kept it really well). Cars manufactured by European and American vendors depreciate even more rapidly. A Toyota however depreciates much slower - with Corolla and Camry being the ultimate choice for most with following key benefits. - Better fuel economy - Far better resale value- Significantly lower maintenance cost- Neither too small, nor too big for UAE roads- Easy to sell within a day or two - even during recessions
