How do you locate an inmate of the US Marshals?

When you are in US Marshal's custody, there are several locations and/or categories groupings that you can fall into.  First things first. The fact that you are dealing with the US Marshals means that there is something "Federal" going on. Either you are being charged (Indictment or Bill of Information have been presented), are a person of interest (Target Letter), or have been convicted of a Federal charge. Washington, DC is the only place in the Continental United States where the U.S Marshals are handling you as an inmate and you have not necessarily been involved or convicted of a Federal charge, (meaning that you have either plead guilty or have been found guilty by trial). In the District of Columbia, whether Superior Court or District Court defendant, all transportation and logistics of inmates are handled by the U.S. Marshals.   Now, if you are being charged with a Federal Charge, and you have been remanded (NO BOND, or REVOKED BOND) before you have been found guilty of said Federal charge, your location will most likely be a County Jail ( in the region that the charge originated) until your case is settled.  In that circumstance, there is a 99% chance you will not show up in the Federal Bureau of Prisons website database. You must check that County Jail's inmate system. Even though you are located in that County's Jail, you are technically property of the U.S. Marshals; consequently, until you are convicted, of which that point you will become property of the BOPIn our professional experience, when you are considered a 'high risk' Federal defendant (high-profile, flight risk, etc), or have the "luck of the draw" and are being remanded in a city where there is a Federal Detention Facility, you will reside there until you are either set free, or found guilty and processed into the system. Last but not least, if you have been found guilty of a Federal Charge, whether you are remanded and are sitting in a facility, or you are a "self report",  it will take time for your information to show up in the Federal Bureau of Prisons website. Once the defandant is issued an BOP #, it usually takes 1-3 weeks for it to show up. The inmate is usaully already in custody by this point, as it is a security risk for anyone to know where an inmate is headed before he or she arrives.....For obvious reasons of course.
