I Been Homeschooled For Two Years For 8th Grade And 9th Grafe And I Am Thinking Of Going Back What

Going to high school after being homeschooled?

wow ur story sounds exactly like mine a couple years ago. I know exactly what your going thru. I was homeschooled 7-9th grade and now im in 10th grade. I go to a public high school now, but it took a lot of thought. I have older borthers too that always presssured me into going to a public school and i finally did. Do what you feel comfortable with and what you want to do. I mean it was tough going back to a public school, but once you really get the hang of it, it gets easier. If you feel like you want that high school experience and want to go to a public school I would say do it. If you absolutely hate it just go back to homeschooling. Its not the end of the world if you dont like a public school, do what you want to do.

Should I TRY Homeschooling for my 8th grade year?

And from the perspective of leaving high school a good 20 years behind me now, I can say that public school was largely a waste of my time. It wasn't until college that I realized just how much they screwed me out of an actual education.

Yes, they're not only loud but largely out of control. Thankfully you don't see that crap in the adult world. Anyone immature enough to run between the office cubicles shouting, hooting and trying to garner high fives gets kicked out and fired. School isolates you from the larger world and then tells you it's busy "preparing you for the real world." HA! As if. Well, I suppose you plan on spending your adult life in prison that's accurate.

You can set your own schedule with homeschooling, most certainly. Unless you get trapped in some online option with ridiculous rules about when you WILL be online.

Do you lose all social contact in the summer and over holiday breaks? If not there's no reason why you would now. You'll have to learn how to make friends like adults do...usually those are based on mutual interests, not pure geographical convenience.

And if it totally bombs and is an utter failure, you can always go back. It's not like it's written in stone forever and and ever.

Do you have to get good grades just to be homeschooled?

Homeschooling is not any EASIER than Public (or Private) School. It just take place at home. You need to learn how to apply yourself to studying. How bad are your grades? Is it because you don't "get it" or because you don't want to do it? Are you really trying? Have you talked to your teachers for help? Or your guidance counselor? Why and Who is making fun of you? Is it something you are willing or able to change? Yes homeschooling will stop most of the bullying, but you still need to leave the house sometime. So the opportunities for the bullies to "see" you will be there. Have your parents check out www.hslda.org for the laws in your state. If they are not able to abide by the laws, then homeschooling is probably not for you. If they can, HURRAY!!! There are many websites for books, and tools for learning. I wish you and your parents the best of luck!

I wanna be homeschooled next year?

First of all, I think that those are all very good reasons to want to be home-schooled. I think that as long as you are committed to it then homeschooling will work great for you. Just don't procrastinate on your work.

Good things about homeschooling: work at your own pace, more free time, less drama

Distractions from kids at school is something you can't help, so if you can keep your mind from wondering at home, it's nice to have the homeschooling option. Don't let your mind wonder off on things like watching television though.

Don't worry about being anti-social or anything; that's just a myth. Homeschoolers are usually more social because you can put your free time into cities leagues or clubs for socialization; this gives you more actual socialization than siting in class rooms.

I have a ton of home-school information if this didn't help, but I think that you should give it a shot. If you don't like it, go back to regular school in 9th grade.

I am homeschooled is that lame?

I was homeschooled for 8 years and there were days I felt pretty lame. I even went back to public school for 2 years, my 8th and 9th grade years, I hated it. The PEOPLZZZ you need approval from are not the ones they appear to be. I finished out home high schooling and joined my local Teen Court, and my sister joined up with the local law enforcement explorers, for interaction with kids our own age and non homeschoolers. She by the way is on the home stretch of her degree in Criminal Justice; I am homeschooling my kids now and will do my best to keep them out of public school.
I understand there are days that are lonely and even worse boring but in the long run you will end up on top of all. You and your parents have made a good decision for your future. You one day will appreciate the sacrifices you have made, even though they make you feel a little down, sometimes.
This in itself is school you are learning a life lesson, you won't always be happy with your circumstances but perseverance will pay off in the end.

I wanna go back 2 public school but im scared, what do u think i should do?

Have you lived your whole life in a black box with no human contact? No? Then your social skills are FINE. I assume you don't greet people by licking their hands, or throw up on their shoes when they say "Hi," right? See, you're totally fine. (Where DO people get this idea that school = ok social behavior, and no school = antisocial weirdness? If that were true, all ADULTS would be totally unsocialized because They Don't Go To School. Duh.)

A lot of the middle school idiocy that made you want to leave will have calmed down by this point. But if you're going to be in with the same people, expect to wear the same brand they tried to burn into your hide. A whole new school is a better route...you may try interviewing a few high schools to see if THEY suit YOU. (Yes, fire those schools that don't meet your standards. People do it with colleges all the time.) Even if you happen to like a fancy prep school, you can see what kind of admissions standards they have and work towards them. I know one homeschooled kid who did exactly that and now he's visiting places like Yale, MIT, and Carnegie Mellon to see if he wants to go there. He LIKES high school at this point because he had a CHOICE in where to go. He was homeschooled up through that point. (No social issues at all, BTW.)

Colleges will absolutely accept homeschoolers, so don't let that bother you. You might be surprised to learn that they actively recruit homeschoolers; any who apply to Texas A&M are automatically placed in the top 25th percentile of their class, which boosts their chances of admission. All you need is a portfolio of your work, a transcript, and the same ACT / SAT scores as everyone else.
