interesting.

Is it ok not to edit your photos?

A person who does no editing is a snap shot shooter. Social dinners and party photos that people look at once and never again. You let the camera decide what & how your photos will look.If you want to be a professional photographer, you had better learn editing. It takes time. It takes learning what you want in a photograph as you are the artist and this photograph is your VOICE!i.e. I do nightscape light painting and for several years I was shooting in the deserts of Southern California. I have a Canon system & the Australian photographer I shot with has Nikon. We would shoot different setting and yes, I would have the flashes set up and he would be asking for more “power, More light” and I would just stop shooting and let him do his thing. We had different desires of light levels, our cameras did different things in that setting. As well as in daylight or sunset or any other setting. Learn your equipment.I would edit my work as I saw fit & he would edit his work. We did not get into each others faces about not liking the other person’s work. We simply compared what we where doing, achieving and what changes we would do next time. 3 years of photography any many trips, both of us learned. The same goes for any kind of wet darkroom or computer Post processing of digital images.43 years ago I entered my first home “Wet” darkroom, no one was there to teach “right or wrong” I just played with whatever I had shot with a 35mm FILM camera. Long hours in a darkroom and many amazed friends, my first freelance “night photo” was in 1976 for a newspaper.I would in 1988 to 1997 be a Photo Editor of 6 newspapers. I would amaze the Publisher & News Editor of what I could get out of even the worst film a reporter brought in.Even in the ancient days of Ansel Adams, editing was done and changes over the years as his desires of images changed, Ansel edited the film negative differently. So yes, you need to learn editing & learn what you “Like”.

I don't believe in editing my photos but my school photography club leaders think it is necessary?

I believe if I need to edit my picture to make it look good, I'm not good enough as a photographer.

But we have compulsory "editing days" in this club :(

I don't need to hear why my views are wrong.

People nowadays say that editing is a part of photography. I have taken 1000s of good photos I didn't need to edit. And as I've said, they're good.

What can I do? I'm considering quitting the club actually, because it's more "editing-centric" than "photography-centric" anyway. You go out once a month to take pictures and spend the rest of the month editing them to make them look even the slightest bit decent.

The kind of "photography projects" we have in this club are "Edit or get a reel camera and superimpose" kind of stuff...

Is editing photos cheating photography?

OK - You asked for it - climbs on soapbox - Photo editing has been done from the birth of photography. I'm all in favour of getting it right in camera as that increases the possibilities, but the bottom line is ALL pictures are edited, even film guys edit where they point their camera they don't photograph everything they are selective - that's editing, they edit colour, they use Unsharp Mask to sharpen, at least the good ones do, they cross process, they use a high contrast or low contrast paper and/or developer, they Dodge and Burn - all editing choices, all this 'I use film therefore I'm a better photographer than you' - what a load of twaddle (cleaned up this last expletive). The artist will omit a distracting telegraph pole from his painting, what's the difference if you clone it out in Photoshop?

You can be creative, for a lot of people the photograph is the start of the imaging process not an end in itself. You can have the original colour version or a B&W version everything from the high key 'light and airy' to downright Gothic, you can have a posterised or solarised version and that's just for the film guys, with digital you can do loads more. You can make a watercolour, pastel, acrylic or oil versions of your picture, you can combine it with other pictures into a scrapbook page, you can add texture, the list is endless and time consuming to learn. The actual photography is the easy bit, the hard work for some starts when they upload them onto the computer, to master Photoshop takes longer than mastering a camera.

Take a look at these by Dave Hill

http://www.google.co.uk/images?q=dave+hi...

Is it manipulation or photography? Actually it's both, lighting techniques and a total mastery of the High Pass Filter in Photoshop.

Or these of mine

http://www.flickr.com/photos/chris-judge...

HDR you either love 'em or hate 'em, but either way they demand good camera technique (bracketing) as well as good software manipulation. These were edited mainly in Phtotomatix Pro.

What's not generally realised is Photoshop was originally a painting program, the photo manipulation came later when somebody had the brilliant idea of using a photograph as a start image.

Enough rant.

Is it possible to rotate a photo in Instagram after posting it?

Yeah sorry, you can’t edit anything about the picture after it’s been published. The only things you can edit are tags, locations, and descriptions. The best bet would be to make sure you have the pic saved somewhere, delete the pic, and repost it with the correct orientation. Of course you would then lose all the likes and comments from that original photo, but that’s ok you’ll get them back :)

What are the best photo editing apps to give DSLR like editing for Android?

Editing is a big part of photography, and thus I believe this question needs to be answeredBeing a photography enthusiast, I have experimented with several editing applications, both in my PC and in my phone, and here are the ones I think, are the ones worth considering:SNAPSEED by Google -> It is by far the most user-friendly and comprehensive editing apps in the Google Play Store right now. This application offers a wide range of edits, and at startup, it takes you through a quick guide, explaining the usage of each and every edit, and how to operate them. Along with the manual tweaks in exposure and so on, there are a collection of filters and effects which you may use on your photoLIGHTROOM by Adobe -> Lightroom is another comprehensive and all-rounding editing app available for free in Google Play Store. Although this app targets the more professional photographer, or ones with a profound knowledge of the topic, this app can also be operated by the common multitude who want to improve on their existing photographs. The only this which, according to me, is the area where SNAPSEED trumps this application is the ease of access and comprehension. But do not get me wrong, this is still a brilliant app.PIXLR by Autodesk Inc. -> I was a bit skeptical as to which one I should devote to the third position, given that there are so many editing apps which are a contender, but nevertheless, I guess this one deserves it the most. The first highlight of this app is it's small size. At around 18mb, this application packs in a lot for it's size. Along with the basic amenities, it also offers a whole range of trendy filters and effects which grab the attention of the users. Ease of access and comprehensibility is also maintained.

Ladies any good photo editing website ? (replacing picnik)?

Ribbet! have just announced that they're opening a photo editor that's almost identical to Picnik (built on the same platform and with all the same features including retouching, eye color etc). Also, they're giving away a chance to win 1 of 100 free Ribbet Premium memberships if you request an invite on their site:

http://www.ribbet.com

They haven't opened yet though so in the meantime I recommend Fotofriend.com (try the FotoFlexer editing option):
