If you're able to recover your account here's some guidelines for creating a secure, strong password - http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=content&id=SLN3012&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1372466487751&locale=en_US&y=PROD_MAIL_ML

Once you're able to change your password it would be a good idea to review your security questions and make changes if you don't remember your answers.

I recommend using a password manager like Keepass or LastPass to create and store strong unique passwords for the sites you visit. You can also save notes like your secret questions and answers to the password entries. LastPass can automatically log you in to any web site you have stored in its database.

I cannot access alternate yahoo mail account because of having a different phone number?

For some reason, when I tried to log in to my alternate account (different from the one being used to make this question) I get this:

"Traveling somewhere new?
We haven't seen you sign in from here before. Choose a method below to verify that this is you signing into this account. Learn more"

It then give me two options, both involving a phone number either via calling or text message. The problem is that I am no longer using that particular phone number (it has been made obsolete years ago) and thus can't have access to the codes with my current phone number (which neither method has access to since I'm using a DIFFERENT phone number than the the one I had given out).

In short:

Yahoo is asking me to use a phone number in order to access a code that will allow me access to my alternate account, but the phone number that the code is being texted/called to is obsolete because I'm using a new phone number, thus I can't access my alternate yahoo account.

How do I bypass the phone number requirement so that I can have access to my old account?

BTW, this is NOT a question about changing passwords and such. This problem only comes up AFTER I use the correct ID and correct password, so the only issue that I have is with the old phone number which I no longer have.
