I Have 1993 Chevy Caviler Wont Start It Turns Over Charging But Wont Start

2006 Chevy Aveo. Car wont start just makes a clicking noise, could it be the starter?

it could be the starter but more likely either dirty cables or a low battery I would guess the battery is low by the year it time for a new one take it to any good mech or install place they can get you a new battery and clean the connections as well and test the charging system

1993 Chevy Cavalier Z24 won't start unless battery is jumped...?

We thought it was a dead battery so we pulled out the jumper cables & hooked up the car. It started right away (so battery was not dead) but would only stay running by keeping the accelerator pressed down & engine revving high. As soon as accelerator is released, car dies. While running, it is running very rough. Once jumper cables are removed, car will not start although it does turn over briefly. Any ideas what we should check?

Thank you.

How to install a turbo on a 1994 chevrolet cavalier z24?

I had the engine rebuilt so it will handle it and what does me asking how to "hook it up" have to do with if you think im not good enough or whatever your getting at. Its my project car. If i **** it up, it wont matter. The car is a learning experience for me. Its a car you dont really see on the road anymore and that's why i want to make it fast, loud and shine. It will stick out of the crowd more than a new mustang because its so different.
I just want an answer(hint Yahoo answers...) and not all of your opinions on if i should do it or not. If you dont know, dont put some BS in the answers just to make yourself feel better. You do not help when you do that.

Hard starting 2001 Cavalier?

You have a 2.2L engine, On the top center of your engine the is a block housing, covering the throttle-body where air/fuel goes in, look just behind this for a small black vacuum line, line is about 6-8 inches long and connects between engine and a small sensor on the firewall, this is the engine's vacuum sensor, on the bottom of the vacuum hose at the throttle-body side(engine side) you will find a small crack in the hose(from heat), trim off the end or replace, car will start,
when engine's cold It leaks, as It warms up, It swells and wont leak as bad, so symptoms seem to come and go, Ive only replaced about a million of these, With fuel injection, It can be lots of other problems, but If you don't start here, You ll be kicking your self, good luck

I have a Chevy Cavalier 2000 and it is hard to shift into first. Other gears are ok and it runs fine.?

I own a shop, and you need to try this; With the transmission in neutral, start the engine, push in the clutch and go right away to reverse without hesitation. Did it scrap when going into gear? If so, then the clutch isn't working as it should be. When the clutch is worn it will be hard to get into first gear also. It could be the brass ring in the first gear syncro is broke, or worn out, but in most cases your symptoms are related to the clutch, the slave cylinder, the brake master cylinder, or just needing fluid, and or bleed to get the air out of the system. Have a transmission shop take a look at it, and get an estimate for the repairs. This way you will know for sure, and most shops don't charge for the estimate. Many will if they don't get the job, so ask before you have them do anything. I have seen the wrong fluid in the transmission cause this problem too. The shifting forks only move it in and out of gear, so any problems with them, and it usually doesn't go all the way into gear causing it to jump out of gear. Forks do go bad, but on a 2000 year vehicle its not likely. Maybe on an older vehicle with a lot of miles on it.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

Chevy cavalier 2.2 liter engines?

The first poster is WRONG. I currently own a 1995 & a 2001; both with 2.2 liters. You need to open you're hood & look at the bottom of the engine on the passenger side. As the serpentine belt turns you should notice the belt tensioner jumping around. Most tend to do this. However if you ARE unsure or the belt tensioner looks OK have the TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER checked.

The timing chain tensioners were defective from the factory causing the guide to slip off & not give enough tension on the timeing chain. What happened to me was the plastic clip on the timing tensioner got snagged in the camshaft & bent valves! Very expensive. So just have a mechanic check it.

If its the serpentine belt tensioner you're looking at 150, if its the timing chain/tensioner it may be like $200-350. If it breaks though the engine is shot. Also a good time to change head/intake manifold gaskets. Then you're good to go till 200,000+ miles!

93 chevy cavalier, ecm fuse?

short circuit in a heat sensitive component or wiring...trouble is you can't keep power supplied long enough to find the problem...check wiring to ecm. look for heat distorted insulation. other than that you will need to get a donor or used computer [ that is known to be good] to isolate the problem...good luck!....there is a dangerous way...by pass the fuse & watch for smoke or spark,s...this method is not recommended.....if you choose this method....you will need all the luck you can get.

How do you use a car cigarette lighter as a charger?

Most modern vehicles have the cigarette lighter socket only live when the ignition is on. It is very simple to change this to a constant fused feed, but make sure that no children could put a cigarette lighter in the socket and start a fire or burn themselves, as this was the primary reason that cigarette lighters in cars were changed to the accessory circuit quite a few years ago. A lot of cars have a ‘power’ socket which is compatible with the same plugs and these are often live all the time as they are great for inspection lamps, vacuum cleaners etc. . To use this method to charge the car battery is simply a matter of wiring your battery charger of whatever type to a cigarette lighter plug, but if your charging source is a high capacity (high current) source such as another car battery or high capacity charger it is essential that you have a fuse in the circuit of no more than 10 amps.Bear in mind that the tip of the plug on your charging lead is now at 12v+ and you would short your charging circuit if you grounded it anywhere, including to the outer part of the socket - so only activate the charging side AFTER the plug is connected. You can’t use this method for an immediate ‘jump start’, but 20 minutes of charge from a good source should enable enough charge to start a car if the battery was low. If you simply want a method of connecting a trickle charger, either mains or solar, there are OBD2 charging connectors available which go into the diagnostic port and in which case you don’t need to modify any wiring.
