How do you read a Winchester Model 30-30 serial number?

The serial number will be on the receiver. While older units may have either the entire serial number on all the major parts, or the last 4 digits of it on parts than the receiver, the one that counts is the numbers on the receiver. All the other part wear and are often changed. Most winchester leaver guns i'm familiar with have the serial number on the bottom or the receiver. So, if you hold the rifle muzzle up, top away from you, you should see the numbers just below where the barrel is mated to the receiver. I have a m94 made in 1953, and it's serial starts with 2002604. On the left side is “DPS-02604”. That mesns it was purchased by the state of texas for issue to dps troppers. I've not goten any solid answers from texas or winchester, but it seems texas bought between 1000 and 4500 between 1950 and 1960.For a rifle that road in the trunk of a car for 20 plus years, it is in really good codition, and still shoots 2″ MOA at 100 yards with open sights. If you do have or are looking for a vintage winchester, but “the blue book of gun values” or any of the books deadacated to pre-1964 winchesters. It could be worth more thsn you think.NEVER, EVER reblue or restore older weapons. In terrible condition they could be worth thousands. If you restore thrm, they are worthleds to collectors. But, if it is a family heirloom, and you have no plans on ever selling it, it may be worth it to be refinished so you can still use it. ******needs editing. Plesse bear with me. I should get to the edit tomorrow. Thanks.

I own a Winchester Model 94 30 30 serial 1764521. How can I obtain all info on this rifle?

It depends on what you mean by “all”.Winchester has always kept great records according to their serial number database that rifle was built between 1950 and 1951As far as more detailed information is concerned you will have to create a list of the rifles features to find out exactly what it is. There were dozens of production version and you could special order just about any combination of parts they produced and custom order stuff that was not in the catalog at all.Measure everything barrel length, barrel profile round/octagonal the quality of the wood basic or extra fancy Turkish Walnut? the shape of the stock Standard or Monte Carlo, how long is the forend how much checkering or scrollwork does it have if any. Here is a link to the serial number database. A picture or an accurate description of what I listed would help me give you more info.http://www.winchesterguns.com/co...

What is the value of my model 94 winchester made in 1981 with the serial number 4928171 in a 30-30 cal it has?

Depends a lot on condition, but probably 200-250 in average used shape, assuming it isn't some fancy commemorative model.

As was mentioned, since you got it from your dad it's priceless -- but a visit to a gun dealer can find out exactly what model you have, and he should have a Blue Book of values, also, just to give you an idea of what you have for insurance purposes. Whatever details you discover, write it all down so in case it's stolen, or the house burns, you know what to claim for value. Otherwise the insurance company will assume the cheapest model in the worst condition, and bone you on the claim.

Been there, done that.

I have a 30-30 Winchester Model 94 rifle (serial number 3823932) and would like to know the value, please.?

Condition is everything, but you do realize they made tons of those things...try a gunshop.

Too bad it's not a pre-70.

When was the Winchester Model 94 serial number 3,350,656 made?

Production of the Winchester 94 began in 1894, hence the name “Winchester 94”, and started with serial number 1 and run, more or less, sequentially. The number 3,350,656 indicated that this is most likely a late model. In 1969 production of these rifles ended with serial number 3,284,570. In 1970 production ended with the serial number 3,381,299. From these two numbers you can extrapolate that this firearm was probably produced in 1970. Winchester rifles produced prior to 1964 are worth more to collectors. Sometime in mid-1964 production methods were changed to make these rifles cheaper, with a concomitant degradation in quality. Prior to 1964, the receivers on the Winchester 94 were machined from a solid block of steel. After 1964 these receivers were made from investment castings.

What is the value of a winchester model 94 30.30, serial number LS23414?

Your Winchester is the Lone Star Commemorative manufactured in 1970. I can't tell if it is the rifle or carbine without knowing the barrel length, but the values are the same for both. Production was 38,385 of both models combined.

Placing a value is not reasonably possible via internet for two reasons. First, the market for M94 Winchesters has been constantly rising since they were totally discontinued in 2006. Because of the popularity of the M94, Blue Book values cannot keep up with current market trends. Also, you rate the condition as "pretty good" which leaves a lot open to interpretation. Anything less than new-in-box is going to decrease in value considerably, particularly with commemoratives.

The last price I've seen on these was about $600 for NIB. With ANY wear at all, or evidence of being fired, that value can probably be cut by 40-50%. Current valuation as a collector's piece is going to be based solely on the actual condition of the rifle.

How old is Winchester model 94 30-30 and what is it worth?

The value of a gun is determined by quite a few things so its impossible to tell .Original options from the factory such as barrel length, engraving, wood type and finish. You could also order a gun with any combination of options that came from any factory produced guns and you could also order any length of barrelThe Winchester 94 had many options from the factory full length rifles with 24″ barrels or longer depending on the option, barrel length, barrel type (round or octagonal) the type of wood used, everything from the basic wood that came on all guns to incredibly exquisite Turkish Walnut with incredible grain patterns that are stunning to behold. Also the type of engraving and checkering on the wood impact the value. As others have said the guns are still in production so without the serial # we cant give you an age. Here is a basic breakdown From Winchester of the serial # ranges and years produced. In 1894 the serial # for the Winchester 94 started at 44,359.in 1900 the serial # started at 204,427in 1924 the serial # started at 953,158in the interwar years Winchester either did not produce them or they have not kept track of Serial #’s In 1942 the serial #’s started at 1,221,289 and in 1948 the #’s began at 1,500,000In 1954 #’s began at 2,071,100in 1964 #’s began at 2,700,000 and ended at 2,797,4281974 #’s began at 4,111,4261984 #’s began at 5,309,432in 1991 #’s began at 6,008,296Using those numbers you can gauge where your rifle was produced.here is a link to Winchesters list of serial #’s for a range of guns.http://www.winchesterguns.com/co...
