I Have A Question On Capacitors Question Is In Answers

I have a capacitor question?

Why do you want to get one of these in the first place?

If you are having headlight dimming issues than doing what is known as the "big 3" upgrade would be far more beneficial and cheaper than the options you listed. Adding a cap or battery will not address the reason for the headlight dimming issues you may have which is a lack of power. The best way to do this would be either doing the big 3 upgrade or possibly upgrading your alternator. You may need to upgrade your alternator if you are running a large system.

A second battery is not going to be much of a help and can actually hurt your electrical system. When the car is running the alternator is what powers the electronics in your car, not the battery. The alternator will actually charge the battery so by adding an additional battery you can actually put more of a demand on your alternator. This would likely make an power issues you are having worse.

A cap is not going to be helpful without an adequite charging system. Even then the benefits of adding a cap are almost always misunderstood and people add them for the wrong reasons. The bottom line is that you don't need a cap and you would be better off doing the big 3 upgrade or alternator upgrade.

Capacitor Question?

A capacitor is connected across terminals of an ac generator that has a frequency of 440Hz and supplies a voltage of 24V. When a second capacitor is connected in parallel with the first one, the current from the generator increases by 0.18 A. Find the capacitance of the second capacitor.

Capacitor question plzz help?

A capacitor is charged to 7.0×10^−4 C, then discharged by connecting a wire between the two plates. 50 uS after the discharge begins, the capacitor still holds 15 % of its original charge.
What was the average current during the first 50 uS of the discharge?

Resistor/Capacitor Question?

The answer is d, 6V.

A capacitor charges according to:

V(t)=V*(1-exp(-t/(RC)) volts

if you plug in RC*ln(3) for t you get:

V(RC*ln(3)) = 9*(1-exp(-RC*ln(3)/RC) volts

V(RC*ln(3)) = 9*(1-exp(-ln(3))) volts

V(RC*ln(3)) = 9*(1-0.333) volts

V(RC*ln(3)) = 9*(0.667) volts

V(RC*ln(3)) = 6 volts

Led, Resistor and Capacitor question?

Im starting to learn about circuits and i have a question i cant seem to understand.
When i connect a resistor, led, and capacitor in series why doesnt the led light up?
Shouldnt it mean that the capacitor gets charged from the battery and then when i disconnect the battery from the circuit the capacitor should power the circuit on its own for a short time?

Capacitance/ Circuits Question?

Suppose that I have a 26µF capacitor and I have the possibility of adding a second capacitor in series or in parallel with it. I want the effective capacitance of the two to be 22µF. Should I...

a. place a 4µF capacitor in parallel
b. place a 143µF capacitor in parallel
c. place a 4µF capacitor in series
d. place a 143µF capacitor in series

please explain why...thanks in advance.

AC Condenser Fan Motor and capacitor question. Need AC tech to answer.?

My outside condenser is approx. 16 yrs old. I had the fan motor replaced 2-3 years ago with an AO Smith motor approx. $150 and a capacitor for the motor and also the compressor just to be sure. It has worked fine since.

The other day I was home and the AC kicked on then after a few minutes I realized it wasn't getting cold so I looked outside and the fan motor was not running. So, I turned off AC and then flipped the breaker.

Waited approx. 5 mins after looking over outside unit for signs of a major issue but did not see anything out of place.

Turned AC back on and it worked fine and has worked since then approx. 3 days.

Is this a hiccup or a sign the motor may be going out since it maybe a cheap replacement or maybe the capacitor is failing?

What does the symptom I described lead towards? the motor or the capacitor? The motor makes no odd noises.

Thanks Jeff
