I have chest pain when I breathe in cold air?

I read this article online that says. If you have chest pain while breathing in cold air, this may be a sign of a heart problem. I am only a 16 year old female. I don't do drugs, smoke, drink or anything. What could this be? I have never had this chest pain before in cold weather. It's like chest pain between my left side sternum and towards the bottom of my breasts. I can't complete a deep breath because it is a sharp pain. When I entered my warmer house, I lied down, and as I was breathing deeply I could hear whistling when I inhale. Last moth my Doctor prescribed me an inhaler because I had difficulty breathing at the time I had cough cold fever and cough induced vomiting. I got better so I stop using the inhaler. Am I ok? I am getting a little worried!!!

Chest pain when breathing?

Alright dude forget most of the answers your going to read. This one of the most common questions I answer on here and which I deal with on a day to day basis in my job as a Paramedic. Once again here is a cut and pasted job of the my answer. All the information is relevant to you.

It called pluretic chest pain. Basically there's 2 linings around your lungs and in between this lining there is a liquid that prevents these 2 linings from rubbing together when you breathe. Now from time to time there could be and insufficient supply of this liquid or there could be an inflammation from have a cough or a cold. So what happens is it causes the 2 linings to rub and create friction so when you breath in or lean forward and push on where it hurts it causes sharp stabbing pains. Its very common in young people and like i said those who have a cough or a cold. If its bothering you try some pain relief like nurfen. Most people that are having real heart problems such as a heart attack or angina usually cant point to where it hurts due to the type of pain receptor in the heart hence why they will say its kind in there jaw and down the left arm and sort of all over my chest. But cause you say its sharp and if you take a deep breath and can point to where it is I can say with confidence that its pluretic chest pain. So there's no need to panic its not too serious.

Now in say all this if you have any concerns go see your local doctor

Sharp chest pain when I take a deep breath or yawn?

Pinched back muscles often send the pains around your body on the nerves to be pains in your rib, chest or heart areas. The muscles are just tight but when you yawn or take a deep breath your spine is moving to cause the pains to happen in the muscles, to pinch them. To get rid of the pain you have to free up your back muscles to release the tight ones and here's how to free them up:
Back:
(do while sitting)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

The left side of my chest hurts when I breathe?

From the way in which you have described your condition it is apparent that you have been having pain in the left side of your chest since quite some time, and that since the last couple of days it has intensified in frequency and pain. Now if this has been going on since more than a week and at one particular area or location -- not confined to one point-- it is a matter of concern. At the same time you say that your heartbeat rate goes really fast. This is also not a good sign. arrhythmia (or irregular heartbeats) or fast heartbeats with pain is an abnormal sign. Though not always. Now I do not mean to scare you, but I have to give the answer to your question. There can be numerous reasons for this condition. Your best option is to go to the Emergency room. The doctors there will do some tests including a heart scan and try to find out the cause. If there is nothing serious, and I hope and pray for you that there is nothing serious, and it is just pain due to gas, or any other condition not serious, you would have had the satisfaction of having the tests done and anything serious ruled out.

In the meantime, if you are smoking it is just a NO NO !! If you are taking pop or coffee or anything like tea or chocolates you have to stop that at least until you have gone through your tests.

No you do NOT have to be scared. Like I said there should be nothing serious but it is always better to get yourself checked. And you will be happy. Best wishes.
