I Have Swimmers Ear And Can

How do u get rid of swimmers ear?

What a coincidence. I have swimmers ear right now too. And your right! It hurts like hell! It wakes me up during the night it hurts so bad.

I went to the doctor and got prescription ear drops a few days ago. I've been using them 3-4 times a day and my swimmers ear is almost gone. So go to the doctor and get a prescription. While you're waiting for the drops to start working, take advil (ibuprophen) which is an anti-inflammatory. It helps with the pain.

To prevent swimmers ear, you can use home-made drops of 50% rubbing alcohol and 50% vinegar. Just use them after you swim.

Hope this helps, and I really feel for you. Swimmers ear hurts A LOT.

The exact same thing happened to me after i went to the beach. My ear hurt horribly, i could barely eat because my jaw hurt every time i opened it. You have to go see a doctor, because when i went to see mine he said that it wouldnt have gona away by itself. You will get prescription drops for a week. Only problem is that you are supposed to put them in every 6 hours, and keep it for 5 to 10 mins, so you have to be at home do it. I had it during school, so i could only do it every 8 hours, but it still worked. For pain, i took Advil, which is 200mg of ibuprofen, worked fine. I have swimmers ear in both ears Please help???

Take some Advil or some sort of pain reliever.

Also, are your ear drops a white color because i took some kind (dont remember the name) and they were white colored and it greatly helped. I was recommended them by a doctor at the Minute Clinic at CVS pharmacy in case you are wondering. I had to go there because it was a sunday and the doctor's office was closed.

Swimmers Ear/Drying You Ears?

When I shower I allow water into my ears and it seems to drain normally. I never have any problems with infection or anything.

But is seems whenever I actually swim in a pond or rivers or in a swimming pool I get an ear infection. My assumption is this is because being fully submerged as long as I am more water gets deeper into my ear and it is harder to get out.

I am curious if anyone who has gotten Swimmers Ear and such get it under the same set of circumstances as I do. Does the home remedy of 50/50 Alchahol and White Vinegar really work that well after a swim? Also anyone have any suggestions on earplugs, something that blocks the water well but will allow me to hear those around me well, most of the earplugs I find work for the water but of course block way to much sound.

Thanks, I appreciate the help.

Can swimmer’s ear heal on its own?

It's difficult to answer that. Sometimes even clean pool water can cause swimmers ear. The earwax can get so cleaned out that the ear can become irritated by chlorine and the excess water. If youve gotten swimmers ear from swimming in a river, creek, or pond, you may need some type of antibiotic or antiseptic ear drops. In the meantime, get someone to put a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in your ear for you and continue to lay on your side for 5 minutes before sitting up and letting it run out. But if it's from natural water bodies, it's easy to have gotten an infection. See your Physician so he/ she can look in your ears.

Can't sleep with swimmer's ear. HELP!?

I went to the doctors today and they told me i have swimmer's ear. I took the eardrops they gave me about 3 hours ago and the medication they gave me about 2 hours ago. About 45 minutes ago I took Tylenol PM because whenever I would ly down, my ear would hurt even more, so I thought I would have trouble sleeping, and I was right. Now, I am tired and I want to go to bed, but when I try to, my ear hurts extremely badly.
When I tried to sleep on the side with swimmers ear, the pressure against the pillow would hurt my ear. When I tried to sleep on the opposite side, the liquid in my ear would clog my ear. And, when I tried sleeping on my back, my ear would throb.
Any tips on how to finally get some sleep with this problem?????
PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!

I can't sleep! Swimmers Ear Relief?

Go to the neighbor's house and borrow some over the counter pain meds.

There is an anti-inflammatory diet...low fat, low sugar and low protein...but it doesn't work instantly.

You could try a heating pad.
