I Heard The Same Creepy Song In My Dreams

How does your brain incorporate a sound you "hear" while sleeping into a dream?

This is a fun one! When you are sleeping, you are experiencing random neural firings - think of it as your brain kind of relaxing at the end of the day…As you cycle through your sleep cycles, you eventually come upon REM sleep, which is the cycle where most dreams occur. To make sense of the random neural firings that your brain is experiencing, your brain uses memories, stressors you’ve been thinking about, and any other stimulus that it can pull to form a story to make sense of all the random firings going on in there - so it puts them together into a dream! (cool, right?)So to answer your question: The brain likes to make sense of any activity, and when you are sleeping there is a lot of brain activity…so it simply incorporates that outside sound (that also stimulates brain activity) into a dream. It doesn’t always happen, but it sometimes does. The best parts to me, is when your brain sometimes gets it wrong - your dreams can be weird, with strange things that cannot happen in real life…like being able to fly, seeing Bigfoot, having an animal talk to you, or other fantastical things.I still, however, don’t understand why cell phones don’t appear more often in dreams since most use them so much - but there is your answer!

What does it mean if you hear a song in your dream?

Well I was sleeping and I woke up after I heard the song 'In the living years' during my dream. I haven't heard that song since I was probably 7 or 8 years old, and there was nothing making background noise. I woke up from the dream very depressed and I don't even know why or what I was dreaming about all I remember is that song. What is that supposed to mean?

Have you ever heard a song in your dreams?

I heard Mr. Tambourine Man in a dream of mine last night. When i woke up i started singing it without actually wanting to. These were the lyrics i heard:

Though you might hear laughin’, spinnin’, swingin’ madly across the sun
It’s not aimed at anyone, it’s just escapin’ on the run

Have you ever dreamt of a song you've never heard before?

I bet it's not nearly bad enough of a song to become a hit nowadays. I think you should make a song out of it though...you know--just in case you could make money out of it!

Hi, gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

What does it mean when you hear a song in your dream?

Nothing special. Your subconcious links with memories and emotions to create numerous dreams that will one day dictate who you are. I once had a dream of a burning village and wolves. It inspired me to write a short story that instead turned into a 300 page book. I'm just now getting to the climax. Any ways music in dreams is quiet comon and is typically a good thing. Especially when its music you can relate to and tends to help with stressful situations or just for whatever your life calls for. Dreams are how your subconcious effects your life. Whether for better or worst.

Do you hear music when you dream?

Absolutely! Not every time, but more often than not. I have actually written songs in my dreams before. I woke up and googled the lyrics to find that they didn’t exist! I believe that if you are a person that listens to a lot of music during waking hours, then it would only make sense that music would show up in your dreams.

What popular song has the creepiest lyrics?

For me, it's the song Tag You're It, by Melanie Martinez. The song is part of her debut album, Crybaby, who is supposed to be a young girl (think a second grader) going through adult situations.  I've been a Melanie fan since she was on the Voice, and I was really excited to see  what her album would be like. I'll admit, some of her songs that were released before the album were dark (ex Dead To Me is about killing someone, and Dollhouse is about a highly dysfunctional family) but I was not prepared for Tag You're It.The basic premise of the sonic that the character Cry Baby gets kidnapped, which is already a dark topic to be singing about. But after listening to it several times, I didn't truly see how dark it was. Take these lyrics:Looking at me through your windowBoy, you had your eye out for a little"I'll cut you up and make you dinnerYou've reached the end, you are the winner"Rolling down your tinted windowDriving next to me real slow, he said"Let me take you for a joyrideI've got some candy for you inside"And  Little bit of poison in meI can taste your skin in my teeth"I love it when I hear you breathingI hope to God you're never leavingAnd Eenie meenie miny moGet your lady by her toesIf she screams, don't let her goEenie meenie miny moYour mother said to pick the very best girlAnd I amRunning through the parking lotHe chased me and he wouldn't stopTag, you're it, tag, tag, you're itGrabbed my hand, pushed me downTook the words right out my mouthTag, you're it, tag, tag, you're itRunning through the parking lotHe chased me and he wouldn't stopTag, you're it, tag, you're itGrabbed my hand, pushed me downTook the words right out my mouthTag, you're it, tag, tag, you're itNot only is this song about kidnapping, but also sexual assault. Of a child. While some fans claim that that's not what the lyrics mean, its pretty hard to see a different meaning. I'm still a Melanie fan, but its safe to say that this is NOT one of my favorite songs. A link to the song, for anyone curious: YouTube

Have you ever dreamt music in your dreams?

Yes. I dream of wonderful music. In fact, these types of dreams have become one of my favorite types dreams. Whenever I dream of music, it's just so much so much fun. I would say it is on the same level as one of those dreams where I'm flying. Not only do I dream of songs I heard of before, but I hear improvised versions and sometimes entirely new songs. I sometimes have dreams where I'm playing on a piano while a song is on (usually the setting is in a party), and I destroy the keyboard with my skill. I'm not some advanced piano player, so I love those dreams because not only does it feel awesome that I'm actually playing a piano at such a level, or DJ-ing a crowd, but it just feels so real. The new songs don't pop up on some headphones I would be wearing, or some loud speakers. These songs come from me playing along in my dream.I wish I could remember those songs I played in my dream. They seemed so clear and beautiful while sleeping, but creeped away some time after I woke up. But even when they disappear, I smile whenever I try to remember them because I remember the feelings they gave me in the dream were just the purest form of goodness/happiness.It's funny that this question popped up in my feed just now because I had a dream like that recently. Oddly enough, the frequency of these dreams are increasing. But yeah, isn't it awesome how our brains work, even when we're just sleeping? It would be awesome if there was some dream recording technology, and while this technology would be recording one of my dreams, it would also record one of the songs I was playing so I can bring the party into the 'real' world.
